Transfers January 2022 - Transfer Window

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

£29m (if correct) is too much for Traore given the circumstances.

If only we somehow knew how Barcelona got themselves into such dire straits financially before.
:contetellmemore:
Don't agree, Traore up until having his head turned by us was Wolves best player. He was easily worth £40m. The fact that we could have probably got him for £25m if Levy had taken 5 minutes off from being a cunt for once in his life would have been a bargain.

Watch him tear it up now at Barca

When it comes to this window you are probably right.

When it comes to the players Paratici signed off on last summer mostly turning into unmitigated disasters....
I have no love for Paratici but I think you still have to look at Levy. No DOF, head scout or manager is going to succeed when Levy dictates everything from the top and does not listen to them. He is known on football matters to listen to the last person who advised him on something so you get a real disjointed plan. The man still speaks to David Pleat on some decisions and we binned Pleat years ago.

So you'd rather spend the £30m on what? 2-3 promising unknowns that will backfire like they always do.

I don't get your point.

Traore was the one piece of proven PL quality I felt we actually had a chance of getting and looked like it was done until Levy started his usual insulting lowball shenanigans .

Now what?

Dias was never happening in a million years, who are we even linked with now beyond Amrabat?

He can't even get in the Wolves team ffs....... this time next year the myth will have grown so much around this guy that posters on here will talk of the time Levy fucked up signing 6 time ballon d'or winner Adama

With 18 months left on his contract? Nah.

(Also best player? I wanted him but in the last couple of years I'd have put Jota, Neves, and Jimenez ahead of him at different times)

By all accounts a deal of roughly £20m was going to be done. Barca coming in and simply matching that would probably have fucked us in terms of where he wanted to go anyway, but bidding £29m has killed it.

He doesn't play for Wolves because he had his head turned and has clearly indicated that he wants to leave.

You'd rather we did very badly than somewhat acceptably well?
If he is happy to continue then he should. There is no one better coming to Spurs.

Vickery is usually pro-Spurs, so for him to say that is very, very damning.
Acceptably well??

No, I'd rather we got back to actually you know, sitting comfortably in the top four and actually threatening for trophies.

But I'd be happier if we had a plan, something to aim for, a goal at the end of the line. We don't have that and with due respect to Conte, he's never been in this position before, stuck with a mediocre squad not the best in the country.

Forget what he's done with Juve, Inter and Chelsea, because he's at Spurs now. The rules have changed and things aren't the same for him.

This is a guy who is so ambitious he walked out on Inter because they wouldn't back him for a go at the CL despite producing an utterly shocking performance that saw them finish bottom of the group.

Nothing Conte has experienced before is applicable to this job. We'll not be taking £40million punts on players that may or may not work out. We'll not be buying average midfielders from rivals for £35million etc.

So rather than let the hope kill me, I'd be happier off in midtable, because at least then, we'd know who we are and what to expect. And who knows, that might be enough for fan power to put constant pressure on Levy to quit.

The one to blame is not Paratici. Look higher.

Not even necessarily saying it's his fault per se, but the whole deal when he was appointed was that he was intended to fix our dithering in the market and transform us. Remember all the optimism when Conte was hired too?

Just feels like he hasn't changed anything. Which you're right, might not be his fault at all, I don't know what is going on behind the scenes. But even our targets aside from Diaz are extremely underwhelming, and we all know that one isn't happening.
