It's more a case of trying to get x number of players on our budget or deciding which ones we need sooner.
Don't spunk £20m on Traore if we need to find £5m more for Diaz. If we can't get the Diaz deal down, we need to go back to Wolves and try to lower that or structure it differently.
People really think it's just a case of pay up, it's obviously not when we're not a playboys bitch.
Well, we're clearly getting neither.
I still can't believe Levy tried a 15 mil bid for Adama....nothing is going change, ever whilst that little pig stays. We had a clear chance at a top 4 run with just 1 or 2 more decent players and yet again, the Barrelscraper does his thing. I can't see Conte staying much longer.
Announce Rafa/Ranieri.....
I don't see a way back from this. Levy laughs all the way to the bank and we supporter are supposed to pretend everything is OK. Sad days.....

If true and we lose this due to £4m then we may as well give up.

Of course we will miss out. Look what's happening with Traore. Spent all month scrapping over 2-3 million now he is probably off to Barca. Its Levy the bloke is a grade A cunt. We won't sign anyone, if anything a token English youth player. Levy will promise that he tried and will bring everyone in the summer. Come summer we will spend all summer selling shit and then sign fuck all. So the circle of bollocks continues

The whole wait till summer also worries me. Let say we sign no-one, that means we have to shift 6-7 players and buy 6-7 in the summer, we would be setting up to fail. At least if we do 3 in and out now the summer is more realistic.
You know how this goes...

It's impossible in January, clubs just won't sell the kind of players we're after, better to wait until the summer and get real quality.

Summer comes, it's impossible to fix the squad in just one window, too much upheaval in one go always ends badly, we'll address the lack of firepower in the next window.

Next window, oh but it's January, it's impossible to sign the kind of...

And so the snake continues to eat it's own tail.

But that's very clearly not what happened here.

What happened here for anyone paying attention is Wolves had an asset whose head had been turned and no longer wanted to play for them and was on a ticking clock contract situation.
They had to bench him when he's been a regular there, many Wolves fans referred to him as their best player.
We can get into debates about whether their best player is Neves or whatever, the point is Traore was a very important player for them.

So anyway, Levy aware that Traore wants out does what Levy always does, he tries to play brinksmanship until the very last second to slash a couple of million off.

He's done this so many times now and its cost us getting players like Tomiyasu.

Then before Levy gets a chance to see if Wolves will cave into this particular game of chicken Barca recognise there is a bit of talent they can try on a loan with no obligation to buy and they step in.

At which point obviously any lingering deal with us is toast for two reasons, they are a bigger draw and at this point Levy looks a cunt if he goes back in with a better offer.

The club then puts out a bit of spin through the likes of Gold that Traore never wanted to play RWB, when in the past two months he's been "very receptive to joining us"

It's obvious what's happened, whether you wanted Traore or not (he seems to be marmite on here) let's not let Levy off the hook for fucking up another deal.

a) Barca were linked weeks ago so this is no "shock"
b) If a loan was on the table for us; don't you think Levy would have snapped that up rather than bargaining for cash?

Fuck knows what's been going down, but you writing a 100 word theory on what went down is very much NOT the definitive version you present it as.

Thank goodness Levy was so clever as to not do the deal. He has outsmarted Wolves last summer has outsmarted them this January and I think he might be outsmarting them next summer on Traore is the spin

Or conversely we never got him last summer, we are not getting him in January and we might not get him next summer.

Meanwhile Wolves have had Mouthino ( yes that Mouthino) for a few years and sold us Doherty.

Danny boy is really showing them who is the boss
Us and Wolves is just pure post 2017 Tottenham. We keep going back there ...not for Jota when he was there, not for Neto when he was flying pre injury, not for Neves the best deep lying playmaker in the prem but for Doherty, Nuno and a failed attempt at Traore. Are our board and scouts on smack?

Yeah, that was the point of the guy who posted the link - you got that, right?

To which I replied that Barca are dogshit. I think we intend to be more than dogshit.

Whether you think he is dogshit if we are negotiating for him for Conte and we don’t have a back up then we have fucked Conte and Conte is not a man to be fucked with. I don’t know how anybody can be happy with deals falling through, if enough deals fall through Conte is gone and we are searching the bins for a new manager.

The club better have someone serious in mind as a replacement.

The only thing less shocking than our failure to sign anyone is our failure to sell anyone.

Why would another club spend millions on players that we have proven are shit? When was the last time Lo Celso had a good game for Tottenham. February 2020? Who would want him?

My guess is that Levy is asking too much for them to pay for, but during that time Lo Celso also has had many good (maybe even a few great) games for Argentina showing that the talent is there. With his success at Real Betis I don't see why a Spanish team wouldn't want to bring him in.

Ndombele and Dele I could see teams not wanting because they have been shit for us and have no international games to boost them up but at least with GLC you can point to those Argentina games to say that it could be a Spurs issue when it comes to him,
