Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I said this would be a bad appointment. Conte demands the best. Our owners were never going to sign the right players for him.

He’s gone by March and then we’re back to square one. We need to stop hiring yesterday’s managers and go for project manager. Potter please ASAP.

Sorry, Conte's a yesterday manager? :pochshock2:

The manager appointment is not the "bad" here. I like Potter, but if we don't fix how we do our scouting and target our players, even he is going to get frustrated over time.

Who are Conte's worst signings in his career?

I ask because we (including me) seem to be saying increasingly "if Conte wants him then I trust him, even if most of us think the player in question is pretty limited" etc.

Does he get it right more often than not?

Quite a long list of players with some rather questionable ones (Danny Drinkwater :mourcry:), but I wonder if some acquisitions are the clubs’ and not necessarily Conte’s targets (though he may not object). Nonetheless, at this stage when he’s just joined the club and trying to build something on the pitch, you have to back him with the players he wants (or at least the types of player he’s looking for).

Yes I suppose at this stage, given that we don't know exactly what's in his mind for us and how it will compare to what he's done elsewhere, we have to just trust him. In that case, I really hope the players currently in our sights are players that he wants, not players forced upon him because we've failed to get our '1st tier' targets...

I wonder if the nature of this analysis is solely based on crediting him for good buys and blaming someone else for bad ones on no basis other than Conte's success as a coach.

This is silly folks!

There‘s no analysis there, just a factual statement that these are players signed under his tenure and I don’t know if they were all truly his targets, which was scarletjim’s question.

My main point is that you have to back him now, even if some of the players he wanted turn out, with hindsight, to be poor signings.

Its a well known fact and he said it in a interview that he waa gone after the first season with Chelsea, cause they didnt want to buy him the players he want.
He said it in a interview that every new player was the board choice.

Dear Signore Conte,

It boils down to this. Will you adapt your needs to the attributes of the squad or force players to play a system which doesn't suit their strengths?

I'm pretty sure I know what the answer is. I just hope you have a plan to make use of the players in the squad as best as possible. The transfer window hasn't helped the system with which you would like to play.

I wait in anticipation to see what tactical adjustments if any you will make given the fact we still don't have a RWB and have lost attacking midfielders.

Will you trust youth, Harvey White, to make up for deficiencies in the squad? What in game tactical changes will you make, if we are chasing the game?

One thing is for certain, this is one of the hardest challenges of your managerial career so far.

If you get us top 4 or hell even top 3 then there's no doubting your managerial acumen.

Over to you Signore...

The first question at his next presser is going to be; "Are you leaving Spurs because of their failure to do anything in the transfer window?"

Everyone seems to want to turn that into a self-fulfilling narrative because it's too much work to write a story about what's actually happening.

He’s gone by March and then we’re back to square one.
95% of predictions like this (I don't mean here necessarily, look at the utter crap on any Guardian football thread posted by people who appear to have started liking football yesterday) end up as wasteful binary code on the worldwide web.

98% of the people who make such hard-and-fast predictions which turn out to be wrong never, ever recognise that they called it completely wrong.

Contr needs to stop whining, keep the squad down by saying we are not the sane level of so and so, instill some positivity and say we are going to play to win every game rather than set up to try to not lose. I can see away games v pool, citeh, manure plus goons at where he trott out his usual line and play to not lose. Fuck it I say he has a free hit this season so should be far more daring but keep the discipline in our play which he has hopefully instilled. Otherwise it’s no different to Jose.
