Transfers January 2022 - Transfer Window

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I imagine I am included in that whinging group.

It would have been nice if we fixed one thing in this transfer window and these two players add nothing that we need in terms of skill, position, quality etc.
The reported targets were a forward, a CM, and a RWB.

We're one short.

And the thing the squad as a whole just desperately needs is some technical ability, the ability to pick a pass and to play quickly and connected with others. Both of these players are big improvements over the players they will compete with (Lucas and PEH) in that regard.

Agreed, this is fruit of the same sloppy thinking tree.

Kulu and Betancur will be good or they won't, that's what matters.

Unlike Amrabat, both are across a minimum talent threshold to be potentially good players. Neither are proven enough to be anything resembling sure things. The story is yet to be written.

I think they could be good signings if part of more moves.

If PEH or Winks were sold and a move attacking or deep lying guy, say a Neves/Bissouma type, someone who can make the passes and control the midfield then Bentacour makes a lot of sense.

If as someone mentioned, not that it will happen, Bergwijn sold to Ajax and Masraoui brought in, Kulusevski makes more sense.

Then the players we brought in are upgrades on folks we moved out but right now it appears we have 3 guys- Bentancur, Winks, PEH for what should be at most one spot and Kulusevski is another winger with scoring questions when we have Bergwijn, Moura and maybe Gil as wingers who can't score.

I think people are just jaded after the Traore and Diaz guzumpings, only thing that could explain the amount of whingeing going on in this thread at this news.

1. Kulu is a loan with an option to buy, if he's a complete bust we don't sign him
2. If the combined totals are €55m as reported that means we are paying £46m pounds in total (if options are exercised) or £23m each. Cheaper than Chris Wood in today's market for two young players with high level experience and good upside.
3. We currently have fucking WINKS getting regular minutes. Even if Bentancur turns out to be a Skipp/PEH -level player that is still an upgrade on the current situation.

A bit of positivity wouldn't go amiss! Cheer up:

Looks like a taller, stronger Modric?

I don't think so tbh

Certainly not a lot in it

And he definitely isn't that creative piece of the midfield puzzle that we are crying out for

I prefer him to them yes, but I am not sure we needed more of that. He doesn't bring progression, passing, creativity, goals, ability when pressed or really anything we were looking for in midfield.

It isn't a terrible move but moderately improving we already have players in is not really that great. That is my problem with the signings.

But I guess at this point with Levy and Paratici slight upgrades are about the best we can hope for.

just as bad at passing and error prone sure

I don’t know much about him but think he does improve us from what I’ve seen, step in the right direction at least

Can only really ask for that at the moment

Sorry just saw this add on. I am not sure either adds much technical skill, although tough not to improve on what we currently have.

I hope you are right and they do improve us in those areas, just seem a bit redundant to me.

Comparing him to Robben is brave

I hope you’re right

Look at the top comment on the video above. Lots of people see the similarities. He has a great finesse shot when he cuts in from the right. Doherty will enjoy playing with him as he will have lots of space on the overlap. When we're chasing matches, we could even switch Moura to RWB.

I'm excited about Kulusevski, he is 3 years younger than Luis Diaz and has been battle-hardened in Seria A.

Just have to be patient with conte and patarici laying the foundations and build from there. When window is shut im certainly interested in how conte handles press and body language. Good indicator for me as conte is honest in his opinions.

I find it odd that many of the people who criticise Enic for never spending to push on, who have repeatedly made fearful predictions of a Nelson/ Saha type scenario, are now criticising the club for what they deem is overpaying.

In a market where Grealish has just cost £100m off the back of one season of playing at a high level, and the likes of Joe Willock, Vlasic and Dan James all cost upwards of £25m with far less pedigree in a top league than either of these guys, how low exactly should we be paying?

Haven't you heard too... The new thing is to get mad at what the other club (Juve) might go on to spend the money on.

Hellbent on fucking misery some of these fuckers.

Especially tommyboyspurs tommyboyspurs ...... Keep all sharp objects away from this poor 'soul'.
