Enough to get top 4 do you reckon? Do you think conte should be getting top 4 with this team?

I think Conte is about the only manager out there that could get top 4 with this group.

So it seems harsh to expect him to but unlike Levy, he has raised the bar so high for himself that it will feel like a let down if we miss out even though we have at best the 6th best squad.

It’s very difficult to hold Conte accountable when we’ve left him with misfit dross at such a critical position in his tactics.

People will be very, very annoyed by that refrain in post-match threads after frustrating losses, but that’s reality.

We haven’t given Conte the tools to make a true fist of top four. And it sucks because we were awfully close to it.
Exactly. Haven’t given him the tools to expect top 4. Which is fine if we say we are happy with 6th place type of finishes & no cups Personally if that’s the case then I’d rather move on from levy/enic. I’ll risk those 6th places for more success.
If he does manage 4th then he will have us overachieving like poch did. But then we all know how that story ends.

If you want to coat off Kulu and Bentancur, I disagree, but I get it. They’ve got a lot to prove.

I don’t understand how anyone who has watched Spurs over the last three years can not be pleased to see the back of Ndombele, Lo Celso, or Alli nor try to paint it as move for us to save money. They are useless, washed up, and borderline infamous for their lack of professionalism. You want to continue paying them to do nothing just to say we’re spending money?

Years and years people have complained about our inability to get rid of deadwood and now they’re mad someone else is paying their salaries and giving us a fee? I don’t get it.
People wanted them replaced though, great they're gone and off the wage bill, but that means fuck all if it's not invested back into the team. Where's the 60 million we offered for Martinez in the summer gone? Where's the 45 mil for Diaz gone?

When we brought in Conte, everyone was in agreement he had to be backed, don't believe anyone at the time would of called bringing in kulu and bentancur to be seriously backing him.

And before anyone brings up lack of activity at other clubs, the difference between many of those clubs and us, is they actually made big moves in the summer, whereas we had a shocking window then too.

They can never admit what the real, actual sporting ambitions of the club are, because it would topple the house of cards of their commercial ambitions.

But the plates can’t stay spinning forever.

I think we’re at least even odds with United and Woolwich and considering where we were when Nuno left, I’d call that a minor miracle.

People are underestimating how much United and Woolwich weakened during this window. Woolwich are more precarious up top than we are, except instead of Kane as their starter, they have Lacazette. Their midfield is Partey, Xhaka, El Neny, and Lokonga.

United losing Greenwood, obviously not due to transfer window business, after selling Martial isn’t great for them either.

Both clubs have managers that at least a good portion of the fanbase doesn’t rate. As with many of these races it’ll probably come down to injuries and a bit of luck. But any squad situation you think is precarious at Spurs, United and Woolwich have an equally precarious position somewhere in their squad. We also have the only world class manager, so I think that’s a big reason to back us.

Never know a team with so many fans who love their chairman as much as ours. Usually don’t like them or indifferent . We have people spending most of the day praising & defending them. He really knows how to manipulate & fool people as you mentioned. Got to give him that. Every year he gets it very wrong & we play average. Yet he manages to get his fans to double down on their support for him.

I have never seen a fanbase so happy with mediocrity.

I think that is the biggest takeaway from this window that so much of our fanbase has zero ambition and are fine with us being a 2nd rate club.

I said a similar thing in the Levy/ENIC thread that I think that is where a lot of the disagreement comes from in that the Levy apologists are fine with us being 6th and not competing for things. Seeing the reactions to this window I think that is true of many of our fanbase even more.

If you have no ambition or expectations for the club then this is a good window, if you want the club to push on and have ambition you see the issues with it.

Pull it together man.

People who hate Levy build him up to be 100 feet tall.

The problem with Levy isn’t that he’s a manipulator, villainous, money grubbing, etc.

The problem is that he’s fucking incompetent. He’s an investment banker/property developer making decisions about what footballers to sign.

There’s a reason why we have a beautiful stadium and dross football, it’s not because Levy is an evil genius pulling all the strings, it’s because he’s in over his head and has been for 20 years.
Then you don't understand his Game. He doesn't want a League winning team. It's to expensive. It becomes more of a Liability. Look at the profit Figures. TFC is one of the highest. Don't only look at income vs expenses, look at assest growth as well. Having the massive beautiful expensive stadium improves his share values. Spending on expensive players is a liability. Greater capital outlay and greater salary bill. He is at optimum earning just making it to top four with a squad that costed him peanuts. Winning a League is more for pride, and entertainment. The cost of Bragging rights is high. Not Levy's cup of tea.

Agreed. Sort of manager who could fight & scrap us to 4th somehow. Imagine if we gave him better players. So 6th would be realistic this season but as he is a competitor & aims high, he will be disappointed with that. We need a chairman/owners who have the same attitude as him.

And let’s make another thing clear.

A big hope with Conte was that his coaching would be able to lift some of our shit players into something other than dead wood, and with Dier, Winks and Bergwijn that’s precisely what he’s done. We were hoping he’d back himself to a certain degree and he’s done it, far more than Jose did at the same task.

We’ve not met our end of that bargain.

Agree with this as well. Yes it’s fine if you happy with 6th & no cup whilst paying sky high prices . Good for you. But I want to try for more.

I actually think with some of our previous failed transfers you could be right - but not these two. Those players clearly already had their hearts set on Barca / Liverpool. Choose your battles mate - you're flogging a dead horse here as you're trying to apply a point that's probably valid for some previous transfer to these two recent ones where all indications are that it simply isn't valid. Honestly, people will respect and listen to you more if you stick to criticising where its undeniable rather than just criticising everything and hoping that some of it sticks (and that no one will notice the logical flaws - no chance of that around here... lol ;) ).
Again, opinion. You entitled to it.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Mine is, 'If we went there, offered both player and team what they wanted, they would have signed. Deal done. Doesn't take 5 days. Because we go there, 'listen I want a discount'. Teams say, 'Wait first, I have to think about this'. Which translates into, 'I'm gona chat with a few other teams first to see if I can get what I want'.

There's FACT and then there's fantasy...... You're peddling pure fantasy and skewed, bitter rhetoric.

Cope on. 🤡

Funny watching the anti Spurs brigade trying to spin this as a bad window - truth is January is never a great window Utd, Woolwich, West Ham all had shockers for various reasons - we moved on three players we hardly used in the EPL, and we brought in two who may feature more ... not great but probably the best from the clubs chasing 4th place.

There was no WOW signings, but to pretend it wasn't pretty decent .... troll away

As for Conte he talked up Kulu in early January, so let's hope he was the player he wanted all along.
