You guys realise, that even if we splash money on Spence, Gouiri and similar players, that right now are inferior to Gil (or at comparable level) there's no way they can jump into our 1st eleven? They are very young, very promising prospects, that will need to get used to the league, gain experience and continue developing, so we may see them playing in 1-3 years?

Brennan Johnson is 20 and carries Forest, crazy fast too. Djed Spence is 21 and has been a great RWB this season too. I heard he had attitude problems at Boro though but I am not sure. I would take both here.
By all accounts, as good as Spence seems, there's enough reports about him being a bit a of a knob that I'd be tempted to pass.
We definately need to be making signings like this and Lewis-Potter at Hull to help with homegrown quota if nothing else. I'd rather young, hungry players pushing the first team than a bunch of jaded old pros.

Agreed. Lamptey is certainly a good player but Brighton are surely going to price him upwards of 50 million and he’s not worth that.
We are currently playing Emerson and Doherty at RWB and nobody at back-up striker. I have a hard time believing that Spence and Gouiri are worst than those two and nobody.
One of the problems with Gil other than him being young, lightweight and not ready for the PL at all was that his position was one that was filled by our 2nd best player (with Bergwijn as a back-up) and then not really used much by Conte when he came in.
There is much more opportunity for the two players mentioned because there is a need for them unlike with Gil where there was little to no fit based on where he plays.
Also debatable whether either are inferior to Gil.
Forest turned down £10m for Brennan, then £15m plus Thompson and Furss, then a straight £18m offer from Brentford.
Brennan seems a nice kid. In the IV after the game he said he loved Forest and did not want to leave in January.
Forest handily placed for a play off slot. And , of course, doing well in the FA Cup.
