Imo, that shows his skill as an attack minded box to box type midfielder, but how often do you seem him pick out, say, a through ball? He's not known for his great passing vision.

Dembele has incredible control of the ball in my opinion, and I don't wanna sound like a mong but honestly the way he dribbles (sometimes) reminds me of Messi with the way the ball just sticks to his foot. I agree with the other sentiments though, what he does at the end of runs isn't often spectacular/creative.
In all honesty I haven't seen Paulinho play at all (except the Confed Cup Final v Spain where I was in a bar in Spain, smashed out my face) so don't know too much what he's like. From what i've read on here though he's a box-to-box midfielder? Good defending and attacking? If that's the case I could see:I honestly think it's him or Pauline. Can't see them both in the same side

But again, not 100% sure what he's like as a player. No idea where Huddlestone/Parker/Livermore/Carroll/Sigurdsson fit in though.
Roberto Soldado perfectly anchors AVB's 'vertical' football

Pretty optimistic sounding article by Zonal Marking's Michael Cox about Soldado's suitability for an AVB team, though reiterates the concern that a Paulinho-Sandro-Dembele midfield might lack the creativity required to provide him with enough service.
Your german mate is correct. He might not be as flashy and well known as the two world class CAM's germany have in Øzil and Gøtze, but he's not that far off them in ability. Only real difference is that Holtby does his work without the big flashy stuff, keeps it quick and simple, while the other two have a bit more panach.Which implies he needs accurate, reliable service to play his favoured game, and there's a question mark about who will provide the passes at White Hart Lane. Tom Huddlestone is capable of those balls but seems unlikely to be a regular. Meanwhile, Sandro's passes are naturally conservative, Dembele distributes the ball calmly from side to side, while Paulinho's verticality is more about his off-the-ball running than his passing. On paper, it's a perfect midfield trio in a 4-3-3 but lacks a genuine through-ball specialist.
Come on Holtby :avbpray:, if not this year then the next. (My German mate guarantees he'll be in the first 11 by next season, if not before, and I have to agree).
That mid-air, back-heel, through-ball flick on his debut begs differently...Only real difference is that Holtby does his work without the big flashy stuff, keeps it quick and simple, while the other two have a bit more panach.
Well yeah he can pull it off no doubt, he has the technical skills for it, but from watching a bit of schalke etc he's more subdued than the other two I mentioned who grab the headlines and block the limelight...That mid-air, back-heel, through-ball flick on his debut begs differently...
soldado? an average spanish striker ? who scored goals against the weakest defences in the world. come on brother.
by the way we have giroud who will outscore soldado easily. someone want to make a bet with me

I hope to god he bags a hat trick on his debut against them. That would shut them up.
Great. Pleased to see some of our players getting some game time together even if its a practice match.
