Ex-Spurs Player Harry Winks

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I think he'll go. Especially if Conte stays and Levy agrees to spend on a big name (my, how I'd love a CM beast like Milinkovic-Savic). Winksy plays for now cause we haven't got many alternatives, but his days are numbered for sure.

I reckon he will get an offer from a team like Palace or Southampton...or a Burnley/Watford/Norwich if they stay up. Or maybe from Fulham or B'mouth, they'll say it's for his PL experience.

At his age, he wants to play every week and he won't get that at Spurs. He cannot get that at Spurs.
yes he can - your opinion counts for nothing pal
until you get selected to pick the first XI

so - never!

Hmm you know, you can actually discuss things with people on here without being rude.

If you'd taken the time to check out some of my previous posts on Winksy, you'd have seen I'm not one of his haters and that I actually like the kid and would like him to stay...albeit in a sub role.

I've said on many an occasion that I don't think he's as bad as many on here make him out to be. A bit like Hoj, he's an easy scapegoat.

He loves the club and knows it inside out. That has value. He can pick a good pass and isn't bad at set pieces. And though many brand him as a hider, he can actually put his foot in and often registers the most (or not far off) tackles in a game.

So yeah, my previous post and the bit in bold wasn't me bashing him. It was just my way of saying he's good, just not good enough to start at Spurs if we're serious about getting top 4 and win a trophy.

You're entitled to your opinion, pal, but nothing says you can't be nice about it

sorry
I've had covid for a few days now and I'm not sleeping, I apologise.

I'm fed up of the hysteria about Winks, and the way people are demonising him to the point that they are making up statistics about his play, inventing bullshit about him as a person - and basically doing anything to support their negative bias about the guy.

He isn't messi, or Pirlo or Modric, Bobby Charlton or Puskas - nobody is trying to say that

but neither is he as piss poor as people make him out to be, and frankly its getting to be immature and pathetic.

What no-one tries to do - is actually look at what he is doing right - everyone seizes on a misplaced pass, or a failure to make a tackle, yet they conveniently ignore the ones he makes - or the fact that he came closest to scoring against Wolves, when he hit the post.
This is what dismays me about the infantile demonisation, it's so rigidly unfair and it is a product of the pretty much deserved criticism he got when he was being played wildly out of position, for not being up to the role he was asked to play. Now he is more in a role he wants to be in, and he is playing forward looking passes (surprise, surprise - they don't all come off) that Modric induces a reach for the kleenex for doing, and he has his efforts ignored - because it doesn't fit the narrative.

My short temper over all of this, is that you are in a long line of people falling into the same trap, and some of the shit that is posted in this thread is a disgrace to come from people that claim they support the same club as me.

We are not going to be changing our entire playing staff for galacticos wholesale in the near future, and people need to wind their expectations in.

And please don't daub me with the low expectations shit, I want Pirlo's and Messi's, just like everyone else, but it's not in ENIC's or Joe's DNA to do it, so people better get used to it, or they really will have to find a club that meets their fiscal requirements. There's one up North called Newcastle.

Come and sit next to me in block 530 and I'll point it out next time

I see the Law of Ever-Increasing Internet Exaggeration is thriving.

Personally I think Harry Winks is the worst player of Association Football in the history of humankind, and I'm including every child of whatever age who ever kicked or will kick something resembling a ball.

I saw a 14-month old push a foam rubber ball along with her knees the other day as she got used to walking. I honestly think she would do a better job in our midfield than that cunt Winks.

Do I win the thread?

Trust me, he can't. That's why he's one of the most ignored members on here.
The people that get short shrift are people like you who don't even know the meaning of support, much less be able to project any form of it.
I'm more than capable of being positively charming to people who deserve it.

Spurs supporters. Not people whose opinions differ to mine, but people who support the players that represent the club.

I believe in the axiom
"grant me the strength to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”

And have the strength of character to live by it. What I don't do is to lash out at footballers who fail to deliver to me the silverware that gives me bragging rights over supporters of other clubs, and then behave like a prepubescent schoolgirl bitching about all the nasty boys that let me down.

Edit. Oh look who disagrees - the very people I mentioned, the 3 dumb monkeys, speak no sense, understand no sense and wouldn't know sense if I saw it

That's alright, man...I've just battled Covid too (for the 2nd time), so I know what it's like.

I actually agree with you on the principle, pal. Winks has qualities, he ain't all bad. Neither are Emerson, Sanch, Hoj, Doc...and yeah, it's quite frequent on here that some go for the extreme evaluation. All about balance, not just being 100% positive/negative for the sake of it.

But we're humans. We're an emotional bunch. Especially when it comes to football. Even more so when talking about Spurs football!!!

We all want what's best for the club in the end and unless I'm dealing with a serial troller, I just don't get wound up about it. Fuck me I love Spurs til I die, but it's only football...not life or death kinda thing.

I watched him deliberately move out of space and put Wolves players between him and his team mates. I watched him put his hand up to signal he didn't want the ball.
I watched him fail to control the ball and give it away time and time again.

Those things aren't in the stats.

And most posters can easily see that but you get the odd one or two diehard fanboys who refuse to believe that he’s absolute shite

Hiding from passes, yet having the most amount of touches/passes of any player on the fucking pitch doesn't make any sense...unless it's hyperbolic scapegoating shite of course.
Balls bouncing off him are included in touches.
Him passing the ball badly to team mates are included in his pass stats.

First goal - runs to the ball then does nothing. Turns back and then watches the clusterfuck from afar. He could have shut that down before we ever hit panic mode but did nothing.
Second goal - ball comes back into box - moves toward the ball but does nothing. Then proceeds to watch the clusterfuck unfold again. Literally stands fucking still in the immediate mess and watches it.
3rd chance - Lloris palms it out, the player Winks is marking sprints after the ball. Winks stands fucking still and....you guessed it - watches things happen.
4th Chance - Winks tries to pass a ball. Straight to Wolves player. Barely fucking moves while his team mates try and get back to defend HIS fuck up.
He was at the heart of every bad move we made on Sunday. He wasn't the only bad player, but he was the worst.

But he’s better than a 13 month one I’ll give him that and probably matches his dribbling
