Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

This is the thing though.

It'll take Conte going, Kane too and possible even Son. Maybe Romero too, remember he's on loan still.

It'll take something drastic like that to happen for the fans to turn on ENIC.

The fans deserve better but there is still an overwhelmingly large percentage of the fan base and I'm specifically referring to the match going fan base that are still happy to lap up the mediocrity that ENIC are serving up.

This is the problem. Until the fans vociferously start revolting against ENIC nothing will change.

Tbh as fans we need to make that happen now whilst we still have Conte, Kane et al.
But I know full well it won't happen, there are too many fans happy to plod along into the abyss of mediocrity.

This could be a real turning point for the good if we can get ENIC out. I would be ok with ENIC staying if we could get them to take the footballing operation as a bigger priority. But I'm a fool for thinking that could happen after 20 years of what they have thrown up, so it's come down to trying to get them out.

One thing I know is that if there isn't a serious rebellion against ENIC by the fans nothing is going to change and we might as well get used to the 90s again.
As much as it's clear Levy won't change the philosophy of the club towards buying a higher calibre of players, he's not stupid enough to let us get to a point where the fans have no choice but to full on revolt.

Absolute scummers - time for a full flush, mate!

Conte destroyed them in 3 sentences
Yep. Another unhappy conte interview. What a surprise. Until levy & enic go or massively change it will be the same old story every time. We are pretty average. Now have to cheer on man United to hope they stop Woolwich getting 4th which is there for the taken with a decent owner & chairman.

People can spend another year debating & arguing the finer points but none of it matters if levy/enic are here. We won’t go to the next level with them here. In fact we seem to be dropping down a few levels.

Winks was on the reserve and our midfilder was crap. He have total 4 midfilders. What exactly was/is his options???? Yeah he got none.
he picked winks for the 3 losses before yesterday when he could of had PEH instead. if you want to win a game of football and not get run over then you do not play winks! you change system or you play someone out of position. you do not play harry fucking winks because its football suicide! its been proven time and time again with fucking years of data!

Sadly plenty of spurs fans still backing or place no blame on enic/levy & just blaming the manager again & saying when will conte stop moaning. I think a lot have turned on Enic & levy as seen on here. But still a lot happy to blame manager after manager for the rest of their life unfortunately.
But on a more positive note obviously a lot of people are seeing enic/level for what they are & how they are holding us back & need to go!

I wrote the above last night which I think is still a fair summary of the situation.

But some posters seem to be thinking Conte will leave no matte what. That will only reflect badly on him - he said the players were the best he'd had only a couple of days ago, so he isn't leaving now. And he'd got the club to move on their most expensive 2 signings in Ndombele and Lo Celso (and Dele ) and started the rebuild by bringing in Bentancur and Kulusevski so he knows the club is open to changes he wants

And when recruited he knew that Mourhino had not succeeded so would have been forewarned that there were widespread squad issues.

So last nights outburst was a pre-emptive strike to say to the club that this summer will require lots of changes - and to be fair I suspect he's pushing on an open door. This squad of players has too many average players in it and Levy will know Conte is saying the same as previous managers, so Levy (who is no fool) will know lots of player changes are needed still - and whilst money may be an issue he has shown he will spend with £150m in Summer 2019, when Poch and recruiting team bought players with poor mentality in Ndombele and Lo Celso.

The only question in the summer is how many is it reasonable to target to change ? Six decent players in might be possible if we can sell Ndomele and Lo Celso, eight might be a stretch would be my guess.

In the mean time its Conte's job to get the best out of the current squad until the summer.
I am not sure everything Conte said is strategy. He seems to have a mercurial nature and does not filter his comments. Conte's genius is that intensity and it makes him a great manager while he's winning and a constant risk to abandon the project. I think his comments were an emotional reaction to beating Man City one week and falling to Burnley the next. I don't think they mean much as regards him staying or leaving.

I can’t speak for everyone but for myself I’m not interested in picking players over coach over ENIC. It’s clearly a bit of each and every.

I’m more interested in how we move forward from here. It very much looks as though ENIC will be here until an obscene offer comes in, so the real question is how can Conte work within the current financial model, or work to change it, to bring better success on the pitch?

Nah.
It might actually surprise some people but he understands football and how clubs operate and how transfer windows work.

I'm really hoping his comments were designed to pile the pressure on Levy to go big in the summer. Essentially saying come on, the managers have changed but the players are the same...and look at the consequences.

I hope!

I agree he is a fiery person who does not react well to loses. He is not going to walk out unless in the summer we do not show ambition.

My take exactly.

He won't get everyone he wants but it we can add 2 or 3 quality players in the next window we'll be going in the right direction.

I don’t think that will happen unfortunately. He strangely still has plenty of fans or people blaming it all on the manager or certain players season after season. Always over estimating how good we are & then blaming the manager every time.
Also people quickly forget. So if in a few years we have a decent season & over achieve those people will be smug & falsely think they were right about backing levy & enic. Then for some reason will be shocked when we revert back to average & then will blame the manager & say the players are good so it’s all his fault. Then the next manager comes & they will blame the players before a rubbish window which they declare transfer window 10/10 superb. We still are bad as really it was a 5/10 at best. So yes, they will blame the manager again! & the cycle continues.

Thing is will he stay regardless if there is no European football (even though his record in the ECL is woeful)

He wants the biggest and best things and lets be honest, I don't want us going in half assed bringing in his style of player and then watching his hoof it because it wasn't exactly what he wanted,

There is no doubt in my mind that he's playing mind games, but looking at his face and demeanour, he's certainly not winning them at present.

Fair comment, but if that's correct then he's staying at least to see out the summer transfer window and probably next season as per his contract if he thinks the level of player changes are happening which are appropriate.

After all he did make it clear in the interview that 'he is available to help the club'
