Ex-Spurs Player Matt Doherty

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Yes, he played alright but let's not get carried away. I'm sure even his namesake, the great Gary Doherty, had a few decent performances.

He still remains a poor player who needs selling - (see the mess he made for his second 'goal') but if he can be a bit less shit and play better than Royal fair enough

One good game against a shit opponent and some of you and the media thinking yeah our guy for this season
Next week: why we signed him worst player ever in a spurs shirt

There is really no difference between him and royal
Both are shit and Doherty was the lucky guy to start against Leeds
Sorry hate these articles and posts after one good game
I knew such a negative reaction would come to a positive note about Doherty
Some of you guys seem to always be in a "negative default mood" when it comes to positives about certain players. As soon as something positive is mentioned about some players - particularly Doherty, Emerson, Wink, Højbjerg - a few of you guys (you know who you are) turn on your "negative default mood" immediately and then have to come up with negative remarks. It's as if you people want certain Spurs players to perpetually perform badly just so you can prove yourself right, and that it's painful for some of you to read praises of Doherty, Emerson, Winks and Højbjerg.
No, I am not carried away but 1 good performance by Doherty as I am well aware that he's been pretty mediocre so far at Spurs. But he's still a Spurs player and when he's picked by the head-coach I want him to play well and will give him the credit he deserves when he does so. And I hope that he will build on this performance.
The goal he scored was very well taken. Kane - not to mention Son - have missed chances bigger than this. And one could see the joy in his face when he finally scored his first goal for Spurs.

Yes, Leeds didn't play well in this game but maybe - just maybe - it also had something to do with Spurs playing really well. Maybe?

You are wrong. Leeds not playing well had not much to do with us. Thats why they are fighting relegation and had given 13 goals in 3 games before they met us. They are just shit. Most teams play well against them.

It's definitely a little bit of both. We're very good at playing sides who give Kane and Son space to operate in, so we are very suited to playing them currently. A combination of them being a mess and us being very effective at exploiting that mess = big scoreline.

It's teams who handle the Son/Kane dynamic (press Kane well, offer Son zero space in behind) and pressurise our dodgy midfield & backline that we seem to be unable to play well against. Lack of press resistant players and players who operate well in tight spaces is evident in this team.

Was very impressed of him yesterday. An assist and a goal is cool, but he played smart yesterday, got into good positions, played some smart passes, played with confidence.

I hope that he can continue like this, because Emerson is not a right wing-back.

He is better than Emerson in this system. I am 100% convinced about that. He knows how to get forward and create problems.

That doesn’t make him a player we should rely on in the future but in this moment he is the best option. He has shown he can play the RWB role in the PL with Wolves and deserves a chance to do it with us. Even in the 10 minutes he played yesterday Emerson showed once again that he cannot play football.

Burney are also fighting relegation... yet Spurs lost to them...
Thats a good point in general. We shouldnt be losing to the 19th placed them. But also Burnley were in better form and have given away 3 goals in their last 7 matches now (and that includes matches vs Arse, ManU, Liverpool and us) . We just cant score against teams that play with the intention of no conceding.

Leeds have been getting rinsed by every team lately. It was just a much much easier game. Which is why Beilsa got sacked and Sean Dyche could be a manager of the month candidate.

Christ player steals living, has one good game we get all this. His body of work is horrific, that is what is tempering the enthusiasm for his one good game. That's all. It's not negative just facts. This is why the clubs a mess this level of indulgence of incompetence.

I'm not this type what you think
I defended Kane after summer and still after start in this season
I'm defending Lloris after every mistake
I defended Ndombele long time
So I will not change my mind to other players which I critize only after a good game
Don't get me wrong I want to play them good and I will support tottenham for the rest of my life

Done well yesterday . Only right he is praised . Good on him… but it’s still a no from me. Not squad or first 11… best to let him go in the summer

Exactly. It's basic math. Kane was owed a bit of indulgence for 280 odd games of brilliance. One game gets you Lewis Holtby levels of tolerance.

Would you care to list a few of the bad games Doc has played?
Here's a list of all his games.
