Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Let’s try to be patient and judge Conte at Christmas when he’s had a pre season and a few new players to work with. Yes it’s so frustrating and our weaknesses are glaring but we can’t expect him to make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear.

And in case I’m reading it wrong, are there people on here who want Potter to manage us? Why?

How long did it take Ferguson to get his shit together at United before it clicked?

There’s always such an over reaction when we lose. Conte has been here a matter of months yet people expect us to be prime Barcelona. It’s almost like people forget what we’ve seen from a lot of these players for the last few years.

It’s no coincidence that the two he has brought in now seem to look like two of our most important players. If we can get in who he wants and get rid of those he doesn’t in the summer then we will be ok next season.

Pretty much.

I think most over reaction is simply disappointment. Yesterday another example and worse was maybe you can't help but think, Ronaldo in our side even at 37 and we win. Madness.

I agree that we need to give Conte a lot more time but he would need to be 100% committed to the required rebuild and of course would need players as close to his preferred options as possible.

But there are other teams who are no worse than us now and the likes of Newcastle in particular are going to get much much stronger. United are also likely to be a lot better although Ronaldo staying will hinder that progress.

Thing is, Ronaldo at 37 is like Teddy Sheringham say at 30, he's a freak of nature.

You can imagine that he takes care of himself to an obsessive degree, much more than his team mates, fair play to him.

The cunt.

Yep if he was our player the admiration would never cease, although he has undoubtedly damaged United in the round. Go figure.

But yes accept all that.

Absolute freak of nature and in the top 5 players of all-time by nearly any metric you apply.

Klopp stuck to his fundamentals at Liverpool, he didn't change the system because the players weren't good enough to play it, he changed the players and was backed by the club. He may have made tweaks to his methods thereafter, but his fundamental principles remain.

If we don't do the same with Conte, it'll be the biggest missed opportunity in my lifetime of supporting Spurs.

I didn’t see much difference between the team that beat us 3 nil under Nuno an yesterday. Maybe yesterday they looked more confident. I was at the 3 nil defeat earlier in the season and they looked very fragile at the start of the game. We were shocking but back then they were pretty bad too. I suspect had they not just got whacked by Man City in the last game (something I think can’t be overlooked as a factor) then things might have been different too.

Basically what I’m trying to say about Man U is that they are miles off. It is a bigger ship to turn around than us.

In terms of Conte, if we have a good end to the season and he feels we are getting in and getting rid of the players he wants in the summer then I wouldn’t be surprised if he sat down with Levy and signed a new contract. But let’s not forget that we have an option for another year so could well just action that in May if both parties are happy to crack on. Either of those needs to happen I think.

Ronaldo has been poor for about 3 months now, very much showing his 37 years, generally been a divisive figure in the Old Trafford dressing room and on one of the worst goal scoring droughts of his career.

He has scored in something like the last 7 times he faced Spurs. It was so predictable that our Spursy lot would roll out the red carpet for him and do their best Dr Tottenham impression.

Yep get that.

United have no chance of turning things in the way they need within the next 3 years. Way too many needs, chief among them goalie, 2 central defenders and a striker unless Ronaldo thinks he can be that player at 40! But equally fcuk them
.
On us agree. It really is whether Conte, having won the PL and Serie A wants this challenge? It is s big ask and a big job.

But yes, if Levy can demonstrate that he will back him then Conte might hang around but it might also depend on holding onto Kane, who probably needs to be part of the solution. The captain in truth.

I criticised Conte following defeats to Saints, Burnley, Wolves and Boro; but not yesterday.

I thought we were good and if we play like that we’ll start picking up results. It’s likely too late for top 4 but it bodes well for next season.

Reminded me of the opening game of Poch’s 2nd season where we lost 1-0 to Utd but it was clear who the better side was. Results eventually caught up to performances that year, and if we keep playing like yesterday we’ll pick up plenty of points over the next couple of months too.

This Utd side are shit but they’ve lost 2/15 league games since Rangnick came in. They still have depth of talent and outplaying them at OT is commendable.

A while. Was younger though but good point.

But there is so much to do.
But please tell me who the feck is the alternative? he doesn’t need us, we need him more…….we’ve won diddly squat in years, yes we came close but so what no prises for 2nd he’s a winner proved time and again he’s done it, he gets backed by Levy and he can salvage what dregs there is in our current squad cos let’s face it he’s stuck with a good few of them put in his men then we are on to a winner no fussed which formation couldn’t care a jot long as we compete and win.

I love Conte, but knowing Cuti and his aerial ability, WHY THE FUCK DID HE THINK IT WAS A GOOD IDEA TO HAVE ROMERO MARK CR7?
Ronaldo was not really Cuti's man. Varane who made a decoy run and dragged him away to create space for Ronaldo. If it's Varan scoring from a different delivery we would ask why no one Mark him. Ronaldo is a freak jumper, and Doherty stood no chance to compete against him. We just have poor defenders and got outsmarted by the more experienced players.

I have more issues with Kane and Davies position. Why 2 players defending near post, when Man U have more aerial threat than we have to defend against them? Kane should be used to gain numerical advantage.

There you go then! But, yes I know that was 30+ years ago things have changed the world has changed football has changed……..we’ve nothing to lose+we’ve got time to a point likes of Kane & Son they are on the turn but if Conte gets the right back up the next two seasons we could reap the rewards…..

What annoys me though, is that he apparently had a ‘dodgy hip’ last week but was banging in a screamer this week. Why he didn’t he do what he did last night against Man City? 😂
