Ex-Spurs Player Pierre-Emile Højbjerg

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Højbjerg - like the rest of the team - is starting to get adjusted to a new playing style... which can take time.
Remember Klopp's first season at Liverpool: they ended 8th and there are rumors that he'd be fired (I wish those rumors had been true...)
I still believe Spurs need an upgrade on Højbjerg. and that he's better suited in a 3-man MF formation. I'd be happy to keep him as un understudy but if Spurs wanted to cash in on him I reckon another EPL would pay at least £20M+, although it would be a pity to see him join a EPL rival.

Skipp is the upgrade and Benta could add a bit in a 3

He reminds so much of Steffen Freund it's untrue! He is like a reincarnation the mannerisms the game play, it's like a reincarnation. All the same assets and flaws. Same ceiling as a Spurs player, we may get a cup on the plus side..
He’s better than Fraud when he’s playing well. He’s basic and he shits himself against good sides…. Needs to take a leaf out of Bentas playbook and play rather than retreat and take the easy option when pressured

He's done well in the last two. I'm not like the weirdos in Kane thread happy when he does. But like you Zomb I know he can't cut it against better sides. Also we really struggle with ball retention post Hoijberge. Said this like a year ago I look forward to the day he is a depth option and knew post Norwich Skipp would superced him.

Pretty much agree except I’d suggest that we should replace Winks with someone who you’d expect to walk into our side as first choice. Skipp and Bentancur are both potentially top players, I think we need someone who already is.
Definitely, get the best player you can get at CM and let the chips fall as they may.

He's a squad player that is forced into starting because of the Skipp injury. Skipp is just better all around and Bentancur is better with the ball.

He's ok as a squad player. I thought Winks would be ok as a 5th CM since hes homegrown, but I don't think Winks is even good enough for that. He kills us when he plays.

The problem with this narrative is that he played well against City...... Which renders your narrative moot.

Your prior claim that he's responsible for a drop in possession since he arrived is also highly dubious considering the manager(s) chosen tactics since he arrived (Jose, Nuno, Conte all happy to play without the ball).

I've read the same shit about Winks for 2 years in the Winks thread, yet here's the punchline:

He IS a depth option...... So pls don't cry and moan when he makes the team. It renders your "I am prepared to be reasonable" projections null.

You, like Zomb (and akin to some of the shit-houses in the Kane thread) spend the aftermath of PEH's good games complaining about his bad games.

This generations David Howells.

Exactly that's even better than Freund
For clarity… I mean Winks.

Højbjerg has his flaws and we need better but he’s tonnes better than Freund. Freund was irredeemably bad (Though I was in attendance at Stevenage for his one and only Spurs goal in Hoddle’s first pre session friendly. Yannick Kamanan scored a hatrick an I thought we’d found our Henry).

I think Howells is very PHE without the arm waving. Bare in mind Steffan did something the Dane and England can but dream of won the European championships
Won the lottery of being born German. Guivarch was leading the line for Frances first World Cup win, still a dreadful player who barely cut it in the SPL.

Freund may have been decent before his big injury which I believe occurred that tournament, but for us he was a truly awful player amongst several other truly awful players. imagine having him, a knackered Sherwood, and Leonardsen as the midfield. I feel sick thinking about it.

Genuinely think that without Ginola, the end of the 90s would’ve been the death of my football support. I’d have become an avid follower of backgammon.
