I've only seen a bit of Bastoni, and he seems ideal cos he's pretty tall and fast attack minded CB (Dier is slow, Romero shit in the air), but he doesn't seem to be anywhere near Romero in terms of actual defending (few are).

Seems quite strong at set pieces, yeah. Mad statement to say Romero is shit in the air, misjudging a few set-pieces after missing three months out in a team that's changed coaches mid-season doesn't make you shit in the air. Physically he's quite strong in the air and has made some sloppy errors. Bastoni isn't very quick in defence, he's a strong runner when carrying the ball but his turning speed is quite slow.

Schlotterbech is a really superb footballer and seems a total stud, captain type. Passing is off the scale. Reads game very well. Looks the kind to be a top player for years. Again, I can't really speak on Gvardiol.

Problem with the Spanish clubs is that outside Madrid and Barcelona none of the others ever seem to have much money.

I'd have thought Lo Celso used as part exchange for a top player in Italy may be our best bet for recovering some value

In a nutshell, if we keep Sess and Clarke we can only buy 2 players from English clubs.
If we keep Sarr and Gil we can only buy 2 players from abroad.

I think you have assumed Winks will be sold - perfectly possible , but worth stating that or including him.

Personally don't think Sarr has shown enough this season to be in the squad, so fully expecting him to be loaned out. Ditto Clarke to be loaned or sold

Not quite correct, Club trained players in excess of 4 can play provided total of squad is under 25, similarly players trained at other clubs affiliated to the FA can play in place of 'Overseas trained players - both in PL and Europe.

They gave him the 6 months knowing if he was a success it would keep them up and he’d likely move on

If he wasn’t a success then they’d be in a relegation battle and wouldn’t be saddled with him end of season

I’m reasonably sure they considered all this … however I take your point

I pretty sure there are Seri A & La Liga clubs that would pay that for him.
