Manager Antonio Conte

2019 Interview_

7 Emanuele Giaccherini, Chievo striker, gave an interview to Corriere dello Sport this morning. The subject of the chat was Antonio Conte, a coach who in the past has often valued Giak, first at Juventus and then in the national team. "Inter have found the right person to return to the great levels of the past. Not that Spalletti was not good, since in these two years he has obtained the results requested by the management, but Conte is a winner, one who has raised trophies both in Italy and abroad. It can bring a winning mentality to those players who have not yet acquired it. "

ON THE REPORT - "Juventus went very well thanks to him. He told me to stay calm and helped me. The day after my debut he sent me a message to cheer me up because I hadn't had a great test. He wrote me to be calm. because the first time in that stadium it could happen that I didn't perform at my best and stimulated me to give more and more. I still remember those words because they were beautiful and I needed to hear them say. I think he will behave in the same way with his other players : he creates an exceptional relationship with his men, makes them grow and allows them to make more of what they can ". regular'
ON CONTE'S TRAININGS - "Terrible ... I tried them on my skin both at Juve and in the national team, especially during the preparation for the European Championship, and I can assure you that at the end of the afternoon I just wanted to go home and get on sofa to watch TV. Conte is someone who squeezes you because he bases his successes on work in the field. His watchwords are work culture, sacrifice, desire to fight and hunger ".

ON THE HEAD - "He puts the players in a position to know everything they have to do when they go out on the pitch. With him performance anxiety does not exist because, even if you are not physically well, you always know where the ball will go, how you have to play it and the movements to do ". ON MENTALITY - "You can be sure ... He rightly claims that whoever finishes second is not remembered because only those who win enter history. Allegri thinks so too, they are right".

ON THE EXULTANCIES- "We liked them so much, they gave us even more energy. It's nice when your coach has this spirit and he participates in the match."

ABOUT ANGRY- "Let's say that when you have to use the stick, he uses it. He is not a simple coach because he always expects the best and this sometimes leads you to run out of energy."

A WORD TO DESCRIBE CONTE- "Leader. He was as a footballer and he is as a coach."

ON THE THOUGHT OF JUVENTINI- "The coach has always said that he would behave like a professional after his farewell to Turin. Sarri will do the same if he goes to Juve. In this case, how should the Neapolitans take it? In football, certain things happen ".

Interview 2016_ Italy, Word: «Conte? I wish I had had a coach like him "
The blue midfielder: "Germany respected us right from the start, not like Spain who underestimated us." BORDEAUX (FRANCE) - Marco Parolo, midfielder of Italy defeated in the quarter-finals on penalties by Germany, spoke after the match: «My only regret is that I worked only for a few days with a coach like Conte. This morning the coach had prepared everything in case Germany changes formation. In this period we have created a team that others fear, a team that has no fixed points, where if a player is moved he knows what he must always do, no matter if in the center, in the wing, in defense or in attack. Now there is disappointment, a lot of disappointment, but we are ready to start over. They defended in a different way from Spain tonight, Spain underestimated us, Germany respected us right away. Physically the Germans are tough, but we made life hard for them, we played a tough game. I have grown a lot and found my maturity at 30. I am happy to have entered the mentality of the coach who teaches you so much and who makes you feel confident in what you do. I wish I had met a coach like him before. I gave my all, I'm proud of my match and of my European Championship ».

It was clearly a process.

1) Tighten up at the back- 0-0 Vs Everton for first clean sheet in ages
2) Get fit - carry on throughout. Stopped conceding late, idiotic goals.
3) Work on interplay and exposing opponents weaknesses in match prep - opened the best 2 teams up like a tin of beans for 4 points from 6.
4)Sign premier league ready players and get the rubbish out
5)Drop Winks
5)Watch as it all comes together

As the fitness increases, we're seeing us score many late goals and conceding less. I think we've got more goals in injury time than anyone this season by a long way.
Number 5 made me laugh. Keep as a homegrown squad player or time for winks to move on? He should probably leave for first team football anyway really.

Probably be 7th going nowhere without him. What a manager he is.
we got to a point where we couldn’t even have shots at goal. Honestly I thought we would have been 10th come end of season under Nuno.

Some of the fans where singing Levy out in the stadium, other fans where turning on one another, Conte has made people forget how toxic it was about to become. The dodgy manager search and ESL still in peoples minds, the club was going into a nasty place.

Conte saved Levy and arguably the fans mental health as well while fixing our players. The job he has done is crazy for such a short time. Shows just what a truly elite manager brings. It’s mental and it shows the manager has to be the main man at any football club. Not the players like at United or PSG.

No team really challenges on all fronts (might see that this year with City and Liverpool, but still a while to go yet). Conte has before (won the Legaue when not playing in Europe, won FA Cup but finished 5th).

For me personally, nothing beats us competing for a League Title, it means you're a bonafide excellent team (Leicester is the only exception to that).

More important than signings is having the team play the way he wants them to, think we are seeing this happen now, still some areas to work on but we are a totally different outfit. I had every confidence in him achieving this but not this quickly.
Obviously doesn’t always work like this. But we lost nearly half a season if you include him bedding in. So you would think next season we will be even better.

Yeah You have to drop performance in league or cups really. Well at least prioritise. European football obviously takes a lot out of you. I notice even Liverpool sometimes look a bit off after CL games & manage to scrape a victory with a 20 minute burst of pressure.

I was pleased we got him but thought it be next season where we see a big change.
You are right about league v cups, I guess cups is more of a feel good thing than evidence of being a top team. Still a good achievement but Woolwich win FA cups for fun & still an average team. Also you need a lot of luck in cups.

Yeah I know what you are saying about signings but I do feel we are at least 3 players short of over taking Liverpool & city to win the title next season.

Conte era:

Performances since we sacked Nuno.

City - 53 points; 20 games; GD +38
Liverpool - 50 points; 20 games; GD +36
Spurs - 42 points; 21 games; GD +26
Chelsea - 37 points; 20 games; GD +18
Woolwich - 37 points; 20 games; GD +10
United - 34 points; 21 games; GD +3
Wolves - 33 points; 22 games; GD +4
West Ham - 31 points; 21 games; GD +2

All this with the squad Jose and Nuno couldn't get humming + Kulusevski and Bentancur.
We are clearly better than those below us (Chelsea have a better squad) and as we can see still have a lot of improvement needed to catch the two leading the league.

Back this man, Levy. Back him and we'll succeed.
