Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Tottenham Hotspur could sign Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic this summer as they search for a back-up to Harry Kane, according to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook.

Spurs have been without a second-choice forward since Carlos Vinicius returned to parent club Benfica following an underwhelming loan stint throughout 2020/21.

What is the latest news surrounding Kalajdzic?
Kalajdzic has risen to prominence in Germany after enjoying a productive spell with Stuttgart over the last couple of campaigns, leading to speculation that he’s set for pastures new.

According to The Athletic, Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich are keen to snap up the 24-year-old due to the departure of Erling Haaland and the uncertainty surrounding Robert Lewandowski’s future.
Not that I am particularly keen on Kalajdzic joining but I doubt that Bor. Dortmund or Bayern are keen on him either. Bor. Dortmund have Youssoufa Moukoko, Donyell Malen, Karim Adeyemi and Steffen Tigges to play up front, while Bayern will look for a "bigger" name to replace Lewandowski.

I don't get what you mean.

Even if we have 250 mil£, I still don't think we should party like there is no tomorrow.
Nor should we ship out any kind of money other teams request. It is still possible to operate in smart fashion.

Liverpool and Spurs are WORLDS apart in our top scouting. Our top player recruitment has been criminal. Literally - someone should be sent to jail for the shit we have done.

For comparison reason top 10 transfers in Spurs and in Pool -

SPURS:
1. Ndombele - 60 mEUR
2. Lo Celso - 48 mEUR
3. Sanchez - 42 m
4. Sissoko - 35 m
5. Bergwijn - 30 m
6. Soldado - 30 m
7. Regulion - 30 m
8. Lamela - 30 m
9. Son - 30 m
10. Moura - 28.4 mEUR

POOL:
1. VVD - 84.65 m
2. Alisson - 75 m
3. Keita - 60 m
4. Diaz - 47 m
5. Benteke - 46.5 m
6. Fabinho - 45 m
7. Jota - 44.7 m
8. Salah - 42 m
9. Mane 41.2 m
10. Firminho 41 m

From our top 10 there has been ONE obvious star and constant starter. ONE (!!). Sanchez has never (even once) been our best defender during one season, let alone across longer time. Regullion has been at best decent LB. Lamela and Moura have been at times acceptable squad players but never starters / stars of the show.
From Liverpool top 10.... well... Benteke was awful flop and Keita has been squad player, not superstar. But VVD, Alisson, Fabinho, Salah, Mane, Firminho, Jota - they have become undisputed superstars.

So take it down a notch - I rather see us signing clever deals like Kulusevski then just stupidly pay over the odds for likes of Richalidson.

You need to add the year they were signed and player age when they were signed.

You’re telling a 1/3 of the story at the moment.

Telling as well that our 3rd most expensive signing on that list just about squeezes into their top 10. And that figure we would not have paid either.

It’s a fact we have not been playing in the same market as Liverpool for years. And that’s just on transfer fees let alone wages.

For instance.
We took a gamble on Sanchez age 21. Made him our record signing up to £42m which we probably haven’t need to pay all of that.
(£28m up front with performance related the remainder)

Liverpool bought VVD for more than twice as much a year later.
Sanchez earns £65k a week. VVD £220k.
You really can’t compare those 2 as like for like signings.
Our record signing for a defender will probably be Romero this season. And still just about going to squeeze into that Liverpool list.
Before they buy Nunez……..

I stole this from SC from DodgyLasagne, where he gives a pretty accurate description of McKennie.

Anyways, what I like about McKennie is his adaptability to a midfield 2 or a 3 and his ability to be truly box to box and take the match by the scruff of the neck. He was typically deployed in a 3 for Juve but certainly covers enough ground and tracks enough runners to play in a 2, although for me his positional discipline is not an innate strength.

Conte will probably rein him in a little, but he legitimately covers every blade of grass. It's said a lot but he actually does it.

If Conte wants his Barella then in McKennie he is getting an all action midfielder in that vein. His passing isn't great, he isn't a high level playmaker or good in tight spaces, but he is a livewire, so fast and direct that he is a one-man transition. That has serious value in our system.

He's almost like what we wanted Jermaine Jenas to be, (though peak Jenas was possibly a bit more technically gifted and natural). McKennie will never have work rate, commitment, or aggression issues though.

Another story of Spurs (apparently) wanting a player who prefers to remain at his club...

Spurs, Gunners looking at Sabitzer (The Boy Hotspur)

As the rumors swirl that Bayern Munich would still consider selling Marcel Sabitzer, Woolwich FC and Tottenham Hotspur could be preparing to make a move for the Austrian:

Tottenham Hotspur reportedly wants to strengthen their midfield after adding Rodrigo Bentancur this past January transfer window. However, the north London club intends to continue molding this group, which is why the latest name connected to them is Bayern Munich’s Marcel Sabitzer.
German publication kicker reports that Bayern Munich wants to offload the 28-year-old, who arrived last summer for €16-million, but has failed to impress since moving to the Bavarian club. This past season, Sabitzer made 32 appearances where he scored one goal and provided one assist.
Although the Bundesliga side wants to move on from the Austria international, Sabitzer has other ideas since he prefers to stay and prove himself to his old RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann. Tottenham and Woolwich are among the clubs linked to the midfielder, but it will be interesting to see whether the two north London rivals decide to pursue a player who doesn’t want to leave Bayern Munich. Regarding the possible cost, Football Observatory puts Sabitzer’s transfer value between €15-million and €20-million.

Sabitzer’s case is an odd one. He is a very good player, but had a very “meh” season at Bayern Munich. Seemingly unable to adjust to being a back-up while still in his prime, Sabitzer scuffled badly. The Austrian is still a great player, but might need a change of scenery to start showing it again.

The problem? Well, rumors swirled back when Bayern Munich initially acquired Sabitzer that he wanted to stay in Germany and it was important to his family to remain in the country.

Not great in tight spaces concerns me. That’s absolutely the reason PEH and co always get fucked by Chelsea

I don't think he is a great player to be honest, he is not better than PEH.

maybe I'm wrong, but that skills are already in the squad with bentancur
imho what we need is someone who can do what eriksen did, or what modric did
someone who is a passing champion, who has a football vision

Better, or at least different, than PEH should be the minimum criteria for the new midfielder. We have 3 decent but not great bits and pieces midfielders as it is, i'm not sure what value adding a 4th does. Bissouma would add that real class and power, someone that can dominate against top opposition or Neves a technically gifted deep lying playmaker or quite frankly anyone that offers that bit of quality.

Amazing player, if the court case stuff is done and out of the way and he is innocent obviously this would be a incredible signing.

Hard to think of a central midfielder better all round than this guy in the whole league TBH, press resistant, great in tight spaces, great passing range, strong and quick capable of providing defensive cover. Just a very very very good player. Would be our best midfielder no question and possibly the best number 6 in the prem.
