What I will add is, I was stung before by Gary Jacobs on the Latuaro Martinez deal, although not his fault it fell through...

Won't believe anything until the club announce it.

Bissouma would not just be our best signing but he is a genuine modern number 6. He can play at the base of midfield , take the ball under pressure and distribute.

It potentially allows Conte to play his favoured 352 system rather than the 343 he has been forced to play with us due to squad issues. Bissouma deep and Hojbjerg, Skipp, Bentancur and possibly if it happens Eriksen further forward.

Game changer for our midfield. Although Then again I was confident on Ndombele but to be fair Bissouma has proved it in this league and over many seasons.

Yeah he'd be spot on. I'm holding my horses on getting too excited though until it is reported by Gold or someone similar.

You need to add the year they were signed and player age when they were signed.

You’re telling a 1/3 of the story at the moment.

Telling as well that our 3rd most expensive signing on that list just about squeezes into their top 10. And that figure we would not have paid either.

It’s a fact we have not been playing in the same market as Liverpool for years. And that’s just on transfer fees let alone wages.

For instance.
We took a gamble on Sanchez age 21. Made him our record signing up to £42m which we probably haven’t need to pay all of that.
(£28m up front with performance related the remainder)

Liverpool bought VVD for more than twice as much a year later.
Sanchez earns £65k a week. VVD £220k.
You really can’t compare those 2 as like for like signings.
Our record signing for a defender will probably be Romero this season. And still just about going to squeeze into that Liverpool list.
Before they buy Nunez……..

I get what you are saying, but I cannot agree.

1) however you look at it, our top 2 signings that cost us combined 108 million Euros + all the salaries have been utter useless wank. While Liverpool top purchases OR purchases in same price range have been success-stories.
2) it is hardly an issue for anyone involved that you pay bonuses for brilliant footballers. I would pay +25% to purchase price for like of VVD every day over getting 10% discount for like of Sanchez. Also I would happily pay 220k per week for VVD rather than 65 k per week for Sanchez.

I will be ecstatic if we pull this one off. I'm not counting chickens just yet though. Dippers and Chavs have history for fucking us over at the last minute. Having said that, the fact we're at least trying to get players of this calibre is really positive for next season and beyond. I thank italy's finest!
