It's more likely that people will be found not guilty due to a "rushed" trial, not vice versa. The prosecution are being given time to build a case, not the defendants. Whatever the circumstances are, it's hardly an open and shut caseWhat would you rather if you were innocent? ......To be wrongly charged (and potentially wrongly convicted, smeared and punished) or to suffer an arduous investigation but ultimately retain the freedom you deserve?
Image if you were suspended from work without pay, family and friends already believing you're guilty, the stress of it just dealing with it, your lawyers, for 8 months and counting?
Anyway, the point is moot. A judge reviews this case every few months. They'll keep it open as long as they feel like it. Still think it's a pisstake,
