I think Rice is an excellent player who will form the lynchpin of a title winning side at some point. He does the basics very, very well. He breaks up play consistently. His work rate off the ball is excellent. His passing range is good and, for both Spam and England, he has systems that play to his strengths.

I suppose the only question against him is what he would offer in a high pressing team (aside from the press, of course!).

There’s obviously an enormous track record of England players being overhyped. But I think there’s an equal habit of unfairly denigrating genuinely good players.

And he’s better than Grealish.

Bissouma…. Court…. Due diligence…. Caveats

Feels like unless we make a serious approach for Pau Torres we will have to try and find a different club to shift GLC on to, despite a CL semi run I would wager that Villarreal are as skint as the rest of the clubs outside the big 4 in Spain and even our lowest acceptable figure to "cut our losses" on him is causing them to baulk at the price, not to mention his wages will be considerably higher than most of their first XI.

What it feels like is that they are being twunty like Ajax, offering offensive derisory crackpot pittance fees to buy our player yet playing billy big bollocks trying to 'Milk the Golden Cow' with extortionate fees for their own.

Everyone likes a deal and haggle of course and maximise their own, but common sense & logic must prevail, there is a limit but Villareal are taking the proverbial piss to new levels 15M EUROS with addons potentially to 20M Euros barley even £17M . A bare minimum would be £30-35M for the way he played for them in the league and especially the Champions league and his consistent inclusion of the Argentina national first 11 team where they recently won the Copa America (big cup equivalent to winning the EUROS)

I know it's different countries, different sports, etc. but I don't think we can just assume these clubs do their "due diligence" on these issues because I am watching the Cleveland Browns over here look like total mugs after trading for Deshaun Watson and signing him to a $230 million deal fully guaranteed while he has 20+ women accusing him of sexual harassment/assault and more coming forward AFTER the move has been made. Their ownership claimed they did an "independent investigation" into things and it seems like they've totally fucked it in regards to their "due diligence."

I think Bissouma's situation is completely different, however, and there is absolutely less risk in taking on a player who was alleged to have seen sexual harassment/assault over one who was alleged to have DONE the crime. There is some risk here with YB but not nearly as much as some folks (media and rival fans) want to try and drum up.
