Transfers Summer 2022 Transfer Thread.

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I wonder how many of the Spurs fans in favour of attempting to force Lucas Moura to agree to a transfer before his contract ends by threatening lack of playing time and such were up in arms about Harry Kane wanting to leave Spurs with 3 years on his contract and turning up late to pre-season last year???

I would assume none, because that would be a teensy bit hypocritical.

It is very often a one way street with fans. As soon as they view a player as disposable he's essentially trash to them, see the treatment of someone like Winks who isn't really good enough but still isn't nearly deserving of some of the abuse he receives.

Lucas has given his all for the club & provided a great moment, if he wants to see out his contract and is happy with a bit part role, great.

Not me. We were in a right state last year and i thought Kane was well within his rights to want a move. I didnt blame Sheringham, Modric or Bale either. It happens. Football contracts aren't sacrosanct, its just the way the game is.

Dani Alves is available on a free - as is Marcelo. Two legendary wing-backs on each wing. Unfortunately, one is 39 and the other 34...

I think Marcelo is done as a top level athlete, wouldn't surprise me if he retired or moved back to Brazil. Dani Alves on the other hand is still playing for Brazil and probably has at least another year in him at a top level. Would not mind.

But did you agree with the whingeing to the press and the not turning up on time in an attempt to get the move?

Because there is a big difference between wanting something, and behaving like a dick to try and force it to happen.

Sometimes a move is good for everyone involved. Harry Winks would likely start every game for 12 Premier League teams, maybe more. How much is he going to play for us next season realistically?

Yeah, Winks should move on. Best for his career. But if he doesn't he isn't deserving of being abused by (some) supporters when he does get picked.

The only time a player really deserves stick is if he's visibly not bothering to put any effort in, or is disrespecting the club by refusing to train/play/stay in acceptable shape etc. That's why the disdain for someone like Ndombele is justified.

Good example. 12 months ago Winks was determined to stay when we were happy to offload but what good did it do him? A wasted season for him. It doesnt do anyone any favours in the long run.

Totally different. Kane didn't state he would leave in 3 years for free. He wanted to leave at the time, for a hefty fee that could be reinvested into the team.

Quite right, the loyalty nonsense only applies to players we like and fans are very hypocritical about this.

Slagging off Kane for wanting out last summer and then hammering Winks and calling him a fraud and wage thief for still being at the club he loves (since he was a kid) is bollocks.

Let's freeze a popular member of our squad out (Moura) and make it clear to him he won't play much because we want a shiny new player in. Great way to reward his loyalty, create a bad atmosphere amongst the squad and totally demotivate him when we need him.

This isn't football manager, players are human beings and fans can be such rabid, emotional cunts that they forget this (if they ever knew it in the first place).

Which is why he'll end up leaving this summer most likely. But Conte is smart enough to realize that if you keep someone around, then you respect them and motivate them to play when they're needed.

It's why Winks stayed and Tanguy didn't last season. Tanguy wasn't onside with his ways and he made it clear that he wanted him gone, that he was never gonna play. That wasn't true of Lucas and Winks.

Agree with this. I'd like him to move on and the club can move him in that direction by getting in other players but no way should he be frozen out or treated badly as he's done nothing wrong. Even if he stayed could still play league cup, early rounds of FA cup etc.

Benjamin Sesko could be a good shout for another striker option. Great 2nd option now plus massive potential in the long term. Although almost certain Bayern will do their perfunctory business and get him

There won't be many games where we can go at less than near full strength next season unless we decide to sack off the domestic cups (which I really hope we don't).

We don't enter the League Cup until the 3rd round, and at that stage we could just as easily get City as a League One club. We can't mess about with the play-off round in the Champions League, and assuming we win that there won't be any games against weak teams in the group.
