Is this not the same sort of level as Troy and Scarlett? Would rather one of ours had that backup spot if we’re going HG youth

He's about 2 years older than Troy with 2+ years experience in the Championship, the last season scoring a lot of goals.

So right now, I'd say he's at where Troy Parrott will be in a season or maybe 2 seasons time, and probably a bigger gap on Dane Scarlett who has yet to play mens football on a regular basis.

Of the 3 options we have in the academy, Kion Etete has the most physical presence being 6 foot 5 inches and actually quite skilful, looking to emulate a composite of Abebayor and Crouch. Troy Parrott has probably shown more skill (its his 2nd season on loan although the first was a bit of wake up call as to how far he had to raise his game) but probably needs to develop a bit more physically to compete. Both are aged 20 and had good seasons on loan at L1 and L2 (Etete 6 months in each, Parrott full season in L1). Scarlett is 2 years younger, very much untested and physically less developed than the other two (which is simply a function of age) and really needs a loan (possibly at L1) to get experience of playing mens football.

Both Etete and Parrott would probably develop their game more with a full season on loan at a Championship rather than being at Spurs, but if Spurs decide they need an extra striker, both Etete and Parott have shown they can play both a striker role and (in Etete's case) a 2nd striker/left winger role whilst Parrott is a good no 10 (has played left wing in the past but imo better as a 10 now). So it would be Conte's choice of which to pick, but only makes sense if the chosen one got at least a dozen plus appearances including a couple of starts.

But Etete and Parrott would both have much less experience than former Blackburn star Diaz next season.

'De Jong, Eriksen show Man Utd still attractive'

Former Man Utd defender Mikael Silvestre on Sky Sports News:

So two players that haven't signed for Man United show that Man United are still a draw.

Fuck sake Sky. We can all see what you're doing. United are not the big club anymore. Stop trying to flog that theory to everyone.
The only reason Eriksen goes to United is because we decide we don't want him. I think we take him just so they can't.
De Jong only goes to United because he's had a shit time in Barcelona and knows ETH so may be inclined to take the safe option. That could have happened anywhere ETH was if the money was there.

If he doesn't want to leave what are we meant to do?
Yeah, it's a tough one. He's not bad, and we'll be going into the season as our 5th choice attacker. It's not the end of the world. But he would not be good enough to make it as City/Liverpool's 5th choice attacker, and that's the standards we have to be attempting to meet.

What do you do? Can't force him to leave I guess. You try to find a buyer, tell him that a club is looking to buy him and we would like to sell. I'm sure he'd get a decent move to a nice city in Italy.

If it is true that Conte wants to play 352 then it's harder to fit Lucas into the team anyway.

Assuming Bergwijn goes we could have Kane, Son and Richarlison covering the 2 up top with Kulusevski/Eriksen covering the "10" and Perisic/Sessegnon on the left, Emerson/Doherty on the right as wing backs. Behind that you have 2 out of Bissouma/Bentancur/PEH/Skipp. If Sarr and Gil come back you have even more depth.

Only a few people here theorise this. There's nothing to suggest it has any basis.

Haha, to be fair.. so many of the people who watch football on Sky are Man United fans, I don't have much issue with them being covered so much.

United don't really attract many top young players, and only get the ones that they're willing to overpay for, or ones that other top clubs don't want.

Oh I agree with you, he's not good enough but my point is you can't just force him to leave and you can't just ship him off to another City or club lol, if he's settled in the club and the City then he's not going to leave regardless of whether or not you bring in replacements.

As I said it sounds like he has set himself up for a return to his home country once his contract is done, maybe he isn't bothered about playing football that much in that case, if he was then he'd probably opt for a move.

It's not that they get covered a lot. I get that. But it's fucking bullshit about 2 players they haven't signed and could not signing proving they're able to sign the best players.
I hate Man United and I hate Sky for pushing this shit every year. I would happily see United relegated out of football tbh. It would take at least 15 years of winning the title every year for City to amass the amount of plastic fans United have to take their place. Liverpool with the fanbase won't do that. Chelsea aren't there either.
I just hate how United are treated as if they're in the top tier when they clearly aren't anymore. They're nowhere near the likes of Liverpool, City, Real, Bayern, PSG. They have money and that's it.

If he said he wants to sign an extension only a few weirdos would have a problem, he is very popular.

He said he wants to go though, and he is not so important that it's worth keeping him for a year then watching him walk for nothing.

NOOOOOOO

No extention for him.
Anything but this. Why would we take longer liability towards player that is not contributing and obviously not improving anymore?!?

Issue with him is not the contract... issue is the ability (and mostly lack of it).

I think if we sign Eriksen it means Conte could choose to play 352 in some matches - would need 2 creative CM's to play 352 in most/all matches
Or it may mean he has options to change the 343 if it isn't working during games.
He's won titles playing 343. He isn't suddenly going to change that full time.

He may move to it slowly. We won't kick off next season with something different though.

Is there a link to this or just speculation?
Only a few people here theorise this. There's nothing to suggest it has any basis.

Why does anything need a link?

I think it was fairly obvious that we were overrun in midfield quite often this season.
Plus we have two absolutely top-world-class strikers in the team that complement each other so well.
Plus it is not like we had chance to play with 3 CMs this season when we only had PEH and Benta (would have had to bring in Winks as 3rd)... if we sign Bissouma+Eriksen and Skippy would return, then I think it just makes very much sense for number of good reasons.

If anyone waits until Conte comes out and tells how he plans to line up in the coming season... then you can wait forever - it aint happening.

Sabitzer back on the market. We liked him pre-Conte.

At the time Sabitzer looked a cheap (one year left on contract) possible CM when we only had Hojbjerg plus the Ndombele/Lo Celso duet and an injured Winks.

How times have changed - we added a returning Skipp and the start of this season, signed Bentancur in January and should sign Bissouma now. So we've now got a very good selection of 4 to choose for 2 places and not sure Sabitzer is necessarily an upgrade on any of them .... and he has no PL experience whereas our 4 all do.

So its thanks but no thanks

I wonder how many of the Spurs fans in favour of attempting to force Lucas Moura to agree to a transfer before his contract ends by threatening lack of playing time and such were up in arms about Harry Kane wanting to leave Spurs with 3 years on his contract and turning up late to pre-season last year???

I would assume none, because that would be a teensy bit hypocritical.

Indeed, fans have no loyalty to certain players so they shouldn't expect any loyalty back from others.

Need to push Ndombele out or take his squad place away
