Is this not the same sort of level as Troy and Scarlett? Would rather one of ours had that backup spot if we’re going HG youth
He's about 2 years older than Troy with 2+ years experience in the Championship, the last season scoring a lot of goals.
So right now, I'd say he's at where Troy Parrott will be in a season or maybe 2 seasons time, and probably a bigger gap on Dane Scarlett who has yet to play mens football on a regular basis.
Of the 3 options we have in the academy, Kion Etete has the most physical presence being 6 foot 5 inches and actually quite skilful, looking to emulate a composite of Abebayor and Crouch. Troy Parrott has probably shown more skill (its his 2nd season on loan although the first was a bit of wake up call as to how far he had to raise his game) but probably needs to develop a bit more physically to compete. Both are aged 20 and had good seasons on loan at L1 and L2 (Etete 6 months in each, Parrott full season in L1). Scarlett is 2 years younger, very much untested and physically less developed than the other two (which is simply a function of age) and really needs a loan (possibly at L1) to get experience of playing mens football.
Both Etete and Parrott would probably develop their game more with a full season on loan at a Championship rather than being at Spurs, but if Spurs decide they need an extra striker, both Etete and Parott have shown they can play both a striker role and (in Etete's case) a 2nd striker/left winger role whilst Parrott is a good no 10 (has played left wing in the past but imo better as a 10 now). So it would be Conte's choice of which to pick, but only makes sense if the chosen one got at least a dozen plus appearances including a couple of starts.
But Etete and Parrott would both have much less experience than former Blackburn star Diaz next season.
