Would be mental. Raphina could genuinely challenge or even usurp Kulu on the right.

Problem is that one or both would quickly tire of being on the bench. Even with heavy Rotation.

If Jesus can get tired of City, we would struggle to keep them happy.

If we're out of all cups by the QFs, and bopping about in 3rd or 4th in the league with only keeping those behind at bay, then sure. The two teams we're - realistically or not - trying to catch up with has 5+ quality options for the slots up top.

Unless we want to settle for trying to pip Chavs to third for the rest of Conte's time with us, we need to rid ourselves of this inferiority complex and look to get quality in, even behind Kane and Sonny in the pecking order. If they are what we truly need, they'll come with an attitude of "I'm good enough to take a starting spot".

I didn't say don't go for it, but it will be an issue.

I think we'd have to have sensible rotation. The five subsitutions change may have come at a perfect time for us.

I've wondered if Deki could play as a CAM in a 3-5-2 (if you wanted to play him and Raphinha at the same time), but perhaps I'm foolish.

not a bad option maybe seems why we are not gunning for eriksen like we did with bissouma

i would love raphinha and rich here as options

we would compete with city and liverpool with that depth

Hopefully it's not just guesswork that the deal is completed

But if correct, that's our 3rd first team signing of the summer, and the window only opened last Friday !

Quality signing at very good price too !
I'm sure plenty of us are looking at the way this window is unfolding and wondering what kind of sliding doors moment it would have been if we'd operated similarly circa 2017-18.

The caveat is, of course, the stadium was still being built. I also think the CL final loss broke Poch's spirit in a manner that went outside of transfer recruitment or lack thereof.

Either way, exciting times.

Fair enough, but I disagree. It depends a fair bit on the manager and the dynamic of the group. Obviously we don't know the exact stuff behind the scenes, but a few things we have seen makes me positive in this regard. Doherty and Royal celebrating together, with genuine joy, when they combined for a goal. Lucas being among the happiest for Sonny as he scored on the last day, and Gollini leading the celebrating for Sonny in the dressing room. Add in that we, AFAIK, haven't heard any complaints during the season from people benched. Sanchez (a 40m defender, let's not forget), Winks (who, despite what we think of him, would hope to go to the WQ if he starts for us), Lucas and Bergwijn all being minor players for Conte, and not a pip of discontent, during the season.

Get the right characters in the dressing room, a good staff around the team, and vet your signings (plus like I said, challenge for stuff), should mean that players, even very good ones, not by default starting doesn't equal trouble.

We had the opportunity in 2019

But fluffed it big time by buying Ndombele, Lo Celso, Sessegnon (who has taken 2 years to have a good ending to 21/22 season) and Clarke, circa £150m........ and taken us backwards for 2 or 3 years whilst we try to undo that TW mess !

But exciting this TW looking forward !
