Transfers Summer 2022 Transfer Thread.

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Or is it that he lets the media believe he is negotiating for several players at the same time, reducing the risk of others outbidding us etc as no one has any genuine idea of who he is actually negotiating for...?
I think he negotiates for many players because he really understands how the transfer market works and that it's so easy to be outbid or players preferring to go elsewhere at the last minute.. In these cases he will always have an alternative ready.

Woolwich bidding 40m for Lisandro Martinez.

Thats 110m before you even consider Raphina. They sound like the club who've had 150m injected.

Arse always spend a fuck ton of money and £150m in 2022 is nothing like it was in in 2012 when they started really throwing it about.
Let's not forget this is the Arse that spent:
£72m on Pepe
£57m on PEH (and gave him away)
£50m on Ben White
£48m on Lacazette and lost him on a free
£45m on Partey who never plays
£42m on Ozil and paid him to leave
£38m on Xhaka who get's sent off and is suspended as often as he plays
£38m on Sanchez who they swapped for some one i can't spell and lost for sod all
£37m on Mustafi - £37m!!!
£31m for Odegaad who is bang average
£31m for Fabio Viera - no one knows who he is
£27m on Saliba who has been on loan for 27 years and won't come back
£26m on Torreira - has he been held captive by drug lords as I haven't seen him?

I haven't even been selective here - that is 13 of their 14 biggest fees with the 14th being the unpronounceable Mkhitaryan who they swapped Sanchez for.

They throw money about every summer and it rarely gets them anything. Arse and Everton make our spending look brilliant.

FFP has a number of strands but one of them is cumulative losses.

So if a profit (sale proceeds less book value) on sale of a player can be made that can offset part of losses made by club, and that might take the club into the 'allowable losses' category (which I think is 30m) where they face no consequences.
I thought that for FFP purposes the full transfer value is attributed to the year in which a player is sold .

Eg Everton but Richarlison for 40m on 5 year contract.

3 years in theres 16m left on book value for accounting purposes.

However for FFP the full 40m loss was applied at the time he was bought and balanced (or not) by whatever other sales and purchases were made that season.

That is to say there is a difference between the definition of profit and loss for general accounting purposes and FFP.

Is that not correct?

Once again, as with the viera kid and Tielemans, they're one of the clubs who desperately need to avoid buying weak/small players but they're doubling down.

We could afford to bring in those players cos we have great physicality from Romero, Dier, PEH, Kane, Kulu, and Bissouma.

Fully accept they are disastrous in the transfer market I'm just a tad surprised they keep finding the funds.

Also we've spent the grand total of 30m so far. I want us to match their spending but on smarter deals, which we can do with Paratici at the helm.

Raphinha still waiting for Barcelona to have the money to buy him in 2100

skeleton terrifying GIF

Strangely appropriate first post on page 1000, and especially gif, of this thread on TFC when we're still in June!!!

What gets me is they barely recoup anything these days. Cant remember their last big sale and most of them seem to leave on frees. For all their fans whining they get serious investment. They just dont seem to prioritise at all.

We've been so starved of player investment we've been made to think £150m is mega money.
That's what we earned for getting to the CL final. Just that. In addition to that there's the PL rights, sponsorship, overseas TV, kit deal etc etc etc. We're not making far less money than Woolwich, Liverpool, United yet we spend far less.
So now we finally get a gift, in 2022, when average shite like Richarlison is valued at £60m+ and it goes about as far as a fat bloke in a marathon.

Richarlison is far from shite. He's a very good player with a very high ceiling, and would 100% improve our squad.

I do appreciate and accept your right to your opinion though.

if we are getting lenglet because we cant get any of our top cb targets

then rather then gordon we need to target raphinha especially if dembele signs that contract

dont give a crap who Woolwich sign but raphinha would be a top signing for them

Well it looks as though we're in deep for Richarlison, not Raphina, so you'll just have to get over that I think!

We can't stop other sides strengthening - all we can do is strengthen ourselves...which we have been and are doing.

I'm excited for the new season.
