A creative mid doesn't have to be solely creative. Playing 343 doesn't mean you can't have creativity coming from the middle.

E.g. I'd be thrilled if we could find someone with PEH's skillset but with a bit of composure in the and around the opposition box, a bit of technical ability on the ball.
I don't want to start a fight but PEH doesn't have a skill set. He's really just a cloggie.....

Maybe not the right thread, but this is something interesting I've been wanting to point out for a while.

We need goals, a LOT of goals, from players other than the front 3 and subs. This is (among other things) has been holding us back since the early Poch days.

Chavs scored 7 goals more than us, but other than Mount who scored 11, none of their players even reached double figures.

Excluding the attacking players (including AMs, and substitues), they scored 32 goals. For us it's 12. Keeping in mind Chilwell and Reece James missed huge chunks of the season through injury.

Everyone was frustrated by Reguilon and Emerson, but Dier, Davies, Romero, and PEH have escaped criticism.

Perisic, Richarlison and possibly Doherty will help, but our midfield and CBs have to give us more goals, whether it's by getting a high scorer like Eriksen or the others adding 2 or 3 goals each.

I hope the recruitment can address it this summer.

I think Conte's also been thinking about goals conceded.

Having a full complement of 4 midfielders who can be a barrier in front of defence should reduce pressure on defence ...... leading to fewer goals. Plus of course Conte's organisation of defence for a full season should help - we ended the season conceding far fewer goals than at start of season.

But in terms of goals scored, if Kulusevski can replicate his form in the 2nd half - that adds 5 goals and 8 assists which Moura never came close to in the first half.

Perisic should greatly increase number of assists/goals from the lef wing back position.

Lets see who RWB is and who else comes into the forwards to evaluate those effects.

But if we can get more goals out of defence and CM so much the better

bit harsh

he did add 3 goals and 4 assists whilst playing pretty much every game.

Next season with Bissouma, Bentancur and Skipp you might not see him as much
He has the odd moments, granted but I don't see him as anything but a journeyman and definitely not a significant CL type player. Just too ordinary. As you say though, off the bench next season. Still needing a real playmaker in mf. Still hoping for CE. It's worth a try on a free and we all know how much DL loves freebie....

Does anyone know when she will be back again?
Don't know when she'll be back again....

Creativity comes from Conte’s tactical system and rehearsed patterns of play. He’s very rarely played a true creative midfielder and certainly nothing like a traditional #10.

People point to Fabregas and Eriksen, but he only played them after essentially having them as bit part players for more than half a season and breaking them of their desire to freelance and insisting on them grafting more.

It’s especially true when he plays 3-4-3, he really prioritizes having ball winners. Creativity comes from getting overloads in the wide areas with the wingbacks and inside forwards. Also he used Kane in a creative build up role, dropping deep.

Our big influx in creativity this year should be a full season of Kulusevski and Perisic/Spence at wingback. Also our current wingbacks knowing the system better as we saw with Doherty and Sess improving late in the season.
a number 10 weakens the the systems core

Depth in attack (also not having a settled attack) is the main reason. Out of their top 9 scorers, 6 were playing either AM or Striker and contributed to 41 goals. Our Top 3 (Son Kane and Deki) scored a combined 45 goals. The other 3, in the top 9 were 2 wing backs and their penalty taker (Jorginho). Their top scoring (none penalty goals) CM scored 2 goals, same as PEH.

Perisic and a fully fit Doherty will match their top scoring WBs IMO (9 goals combined).

They did have 3 x CBs score 3 each, though, where as our highest was 2, but I think this is more to do with CBs v Stiker being the targets of set piece though as they scored 10 corners/indirect set pieces to our 8, so not a huge difference.

Also worth noting, that when Conte won Serie A with Inter, the top 5 scorers were the 2 strikers, the 2 WBs and the Back up Striker and the next highest got 3 goals, so I think now we have Perisic, back up to Kane and Son will be the best way to add more goals in the team.

We do have the much better front line, the point was highlight, how despite that they outscored us.

Of course subs and AMs contributed, that's why in my comparison I excluded ALL attacking players, including AMs and subs. Only comparing the back line and CMs. Even excluding the Jorginho pens, they come out well ahead.

I did mention Perisic/oDoherty as a partial solution to the problem.

If we only scored 2 less from set pieces, then their backline/CMs must have contributed more goals from open play.

Conte's Inter wouldn't win the PL, would most likely come 4th. We need more goals from the rest of the squad. They don't have to be prolific but they're not doing enough.
