It's weird, I feel like Lenglet (on loan, with option to buy) would indicate some other CB target. Bremer would be better suited to rotating with Dier apparently, so could see the logic in spending money on him and essentially using Lenglet as a stopgap who we could buy if he suddenly surprised us with his quality.

And that's likely not a coincidence with Bastoni and Gvardiol seeming nigh on impossible this summer.
I think we are getting someone other than Lenglet but I have absolutely no clue. There’s so many leads and so many names linked that I couldn’t guess until he’s holding the shirt

For those balking at the 60m price tag (though I'm not sure if that's euros, pounds with add ons included, etc) just remember that the blue scousers spunked £50m to buy him in the first place.

Given that he's not depreciated (Tanguy says hello) and prices are even crazier now than 2018, it's not an insane price.

Raphinha for £65m is crazier IMO.
I'll never, ever understand why fans baulk at the price tag.

Complain that we're not treated by the media as a big club, then complain again when we finally start acting like one.

Jeez! :contehandshead:

They also paid £45m for Siggurdson whose contract ends on June 30.

Lenglet, Spence, Richarlison....got to be honest that doesnt feel like a cash rich champions league team that wants to push Liverpool and City. I'd hope we have something else up our sleeve.
I think we'd be missing the point, if we look at how excited we get by the individual players we're linked with. The important thing is whether they would fit into Conte's system and they are all arguably better than what we have. The sum is always bigger than its parts and nowhere does that hold more true than in a Conte team.

Without preseason and limited options off the bench, in the final third of the season when the team really hit its stride, we amassed the 3rd most points by a very slim margin from first and second, with the 2nd best attack and 2nd best defense. Now add 3-4 improvements to the starting lineup, depth, and a full preseason, and not only should we able to replicate our performance in the final third of last season, but even surpass it. Which would put us in a very good place indeed.

Yep have to think Conte/Paratici doens't see a huge difference between Torres/Lenglet so if we can't get out top 2 options this summer, we don't want to make a long term commitment further down the list.

If we get Bremer, Dier could cover LCB spot if needed too.

Tottenham want to sign Brazil forward Richarlison, 25, and English winger Anthony Gordon, 21, from Everton in a double deal. Chelsea are also interested in Richarlison. (Sky Sports)

But Everton are not interested in selling Gordon, whose contract with the Goodison Park club runs until 2025, as part of any transfer involving Richarlison. (Liverpool Echo)
They want a 100m for the pair.

: “Bremer in hand since January, new contacts this week between clubs. Skriniar is expected to be defined: to me it is PSG (not other teams), which pushes a lot, with times that are a little slow in doing everything. PSG's intention is to relaunch. "

Fook dont look good regarding Bremer

Years of Levy have turned our fans into absolute skinflints.

Who gives a shit if we overpay by a few million, the club have the money and it's not coming out of our pocket.

If the end result is Conte get's a player he wants then I am game.

Do you think any of the "big" clubs fans all sit around whining that they overpaid by £10m or so?

People has this exact attitude when we over paid for TND, GLC, Sessegnon, Sanchez, Aurrier, and I'm sure there's more. If we signed Richarlison on a 5 year deal he'd be 30 at the end of it. Brazillians aren't known to be great into their 30s. If he's not absolutely brilliant, we will have wasted precious money on a player we have no use for and are unable to move on. Again.

I’m just winding you up chief. You don’t rate Richarlison the same as me and others. And that’s okay. That’s why we are in a forum!

Actually, as a footballer, I think he's ok. I think our difference of opinion is more to do with his "shithousery" - I think you'll be very much let down with the reality.

Just shut the fuck up. About your 20th post today that is the same shit in different wording.

I wasn't talking to you so go fuck your own face.
Don't like me? Put me on ignore. Reply one more time with another post like that and that's where you'll go.

De Jong is a good player, but his wages are insane, expect that's why this deal is going ahead as they don't really want rid of him, just can't afford to continue paying him 400,000 euros a week and United's bid represents a recouping of his initial fee. Whether he will succeed in PL is another matter but he definitely has the capacity to do so.
Lenglet really is a castoff of Barca, this is very similar to the Royal deal IMO, if we pay them 25m their fans are gonna be pinching themselves. Hope we go for Bremer or Torres instead.

He hasn't performed for Barcelona though. People here are getting their dicks in a twist about a loan for Lengelet who was, by all accounts, decent before he went there.

Soldado - £26million
Llorente - £11million
Janssen - £17million

Or just buy one prem proven player who can rotate with the front three and stay for 5/6 years?

Tottenham Hotspur want Nathan Ake with Manchester City open to letting the defender leave the club during the summer transfer window, according to a report from 90min.

Ake has never quite been able to establish himself as a regular starter for Pep Guardiola’s side. But the City boss is a fan of the Dutchman.

Nevertheless, the Cityzens are open to selling the 27-year-old for the right offer. And there are a number of Premier League sides interested in signing the centre-back

90min reports that Tottenham want Ake. Meanwhile, they face competition from the likes of West Ham and Newcastle United for the £41 million defender.
It is noted that City still want a considerable sum for Ake – though some of his top-flight admirers want to take him on loan.
There is certainly no shame in not being a regular starter for City. And Ake is a player with a lot of quality.

Virgil van Dijk previously labelled his countryman ‘fantastic‘. And he is someone City paid more than £40 million to sign just two years ago.

Tottenham are still looking to sign a left-sided centre-back. They have, so far, had no luck with the likes of Alessandro Bastoni or Josko Gvardiol.

Ake would fill the void. He is excellent in possession, as you would expect from a centre-back in Guardiola’s squad. And you would imagine that he would be well suited to playing alongside Cristian Romero and Eric Dier in a back three.

Much may depend on how much City actually want for Ake. Reports have previously suggested that his asking price could be £50 million.

And Spurs are hoping to close the gap to them this year, which may impact the price. But he could certainly be a very smart signing if there is a deal to be done.

Yes and i was saying if 2 of those are Lenglet and Spence then they dont really improve the first team and a potentially good window looks a lot less so. Still an issue with creativity as well. I mean it might not be those 2, just going off the information as of today. Not everything has to be terrible but not everything has to be brilliant either.

So far excellent..... The rest; I shan't rank what hasn't happened yet on the basis on a few sketchy links.

As i've already noted lack of worthwhile RBs is a bummer, but it's slim pickings and peeps need to suck it up rather than spending all season moaning about it.

As for CBs.... We've been linked with about a dozen; so why get hung up on the one you don't fancy?

Freebies are sadly not free - still multiple millions spent on 'signing on ' fees and agents fees. cheaper than paying £10m for a player but that's about as good as it gets.

We bought Bentancur in January, Kulusevski we paid a loan fee (£10m ?) for 18 months with an obligation to buy next summer.

Bissouma we have bought, and it looks like we are buying Richarlison and several outlets still suggest Gordon as well.

So as one oldie to another - glass half full in terms of being correct ?
Informative. Thanks. So we probably have a 100 mil or so left from uncle Joe. 50-60 for Richarlison. Leaves another 50 plus sales. Raphinha would be nice....
