The thing is, though, we only play them twice. So even if they are better than us, as long as we have gotten better than every other team outside the top 4 and our results reflect that, then it's all going to come down to the 6 matches between us Chelsea, Pool, and City. And we know we can do a number on Pool and City, so just need to eek a couple of good results against Chelsea. 3 wins and 3 losses from these 6 games and the rest is up to us not dropping any silly points to be in the hunt.
Football doesn't work that way. The better team doesn't win every time. Only City and Liverpool go into every non-top 6 game with the expectation of a win. Neither us nor the chavs are anywhere near that level.

We have the potential to significantly close the gap on the top 2..... Beyond that we'd be reliant upon at least one of City or Liverpool to have a nightmare.

Based on what?

The owners are a completely unknown quantity to you and I.

The guys never bought a football player in his life and has already sacked off his recruitment big wigs.
Based on the fact that they've already spent £60m on Raphina, clearly have maintained their interest in Kounde despite the massive fee being asked.

They also have a number of players they can sell to make money:

Kepa 5m
Alonso 5m
Azpi 5m
Jorginho 15m
Loftus Cheek 10m
Ziyech 20m

That's 50m right there, and they can keep Werner and Pulisic as backups.

They also broke even last season in terms of transfer spending, so they have extra overhead to splash out.

Look at United..... All that money and yet for years now they've been struggling to get deals over the line.

The players they've targeted so far seem pretty sound to me. They've got a genuinely top coach in charge and like Klopp with Liverpool, as long as that is true it'll work out quite well I think. There may even be less ego signings who the manager didn't want, like Lukaku.

I presume that since Not. Forest have made a bid for William, a right-back, they have given up on Spence...

Liverpool have turned down Nottingham Forest's opening offer for Neco Williams as they are holding out for the £15million price tag they recently attached to him.

The 21-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Fulham, and delivered a number of impressive performances to help the Cottagers gain promotion to the Premier League.

As a result, several clubs have registered an interest in signing the 21-year-old defender - who is unlikely to feature for Liverpool next season following the signing of Calvin Ramsay.

Based on the fact that they've already spent £60m on Raphina,

No they haven't. The player is reportedly stilll holding out for Barca.

clearly have maintained their interest in Kounde despite the massive fee being asked.

At this stage that's nothing more than twitter-tattle.

....My point very much remains.

....And it extends far beyond a mere willingness to spend.

Again, see point about United and the fact that Boehly is a complete 'virgin'.

It's funny; atm it seems Spurs fans have more faith in him than the Chavs do.

Boehly has zero track record...... This is all just guess work.

2 can play that game..... Perhaps I should insist that were gonna bag Gvardiol just cos of a few twitter links?

As stands they've signed no-one and their fans are itchy.
