One splurge? Since 2019 when we started having the finances to do so we've been spending. Get a grip.

2019 being the summer after we spent nothing in 2 consecutive windows. Righto. This was after a Champions league final that would have netted the club aprox £150,000,000
Given how in the 18/19 windows we made £13m I'll net that off against the £86m net spent from 19/20 for £73m over 4 windows. Average £18.25m per window. Mega spenders. Definitely real ambition there.

2020/2021 - Net spend £52m - less than Richarlison. That's for "the special one" you know, Daniels man crush and serial winner. The serial winner who got sacked a week before a cup final.
2021/2022 - £47m - To be totally honest, that's quote a lot of money for a total fucking spack like Nuno to be given. About £47m more than I would have given him anyway.

These numbers are ok. They're better than they have been in the past, but they're not ambitious spends.
The money this summer is over and above what we'd normally spend. It's not us showing any financial clout because it may never be repeated again. What if we finish 2nd and win a cup. What are we gonna do next season? Are will gonna raise another £150m through shares, sell a painting or two? We cannot ever repeat the summer of 2018 when it was there for the taking but we (club AND Poch) fucked up.

For clarity - I am happy with what us currently happening.

just browsed the grand oold team forum

pretty much saying if he had ambition he wouldnt come to us

everton fans are just as bad as Woolwich ones

It's up to Spurs and Conte now to put something in the cabinet and shut all these trolls down.
Ambition is joining a team that is building a squad capable of winning things. Ambition is not sitting on the bench at an oil club.

I've seen quite a few comments about Conte not putting pen to paper, and possibly leaving. As long as he continues to do well, clubs will always want him, and we will have a fear he might leave, therefore we're more likely to back him – It's a tactical masterclass!

If you believe you are the best then you are never insecure and fear for your job, a renewal will always be there waiting and he can keep calling the shots. The day he signs a long contract is the day he loses some of that power.
