That would make them far stronger than last season and push them up to title contenders. They didn't have Chilwell/James fit for a season last year & Kante was already on the wane. If they signed Lewa/De Ligt on top of Sterling they'd have a monstrous side.

Doubt they will get Lewa though. Not a huge fan of SMS, still think all their midfielders are better than him tbh.

Monstrous? No.

A very good one? Yes

On our level? No way - levels below us like the chav punks they are.

Chelsea’s biggest issue is Kante’s legs going. Last half of the season his legs weren’t the same, his type of all action game isn’t something you can sustain into your 30’s just look at Scott Parker.

Kante’s energy levels are like that of two men, he was never an elite footballer on the ball like Dembele or even his fellow team mates like Kovacic but my god his positional play and running are as good as any player I have seen watching football just incredible. That is coming to an end.

Kante’s decline and Rudiger fucking off massive weaken Chelsea.
Great point. Kovacic has been very good, but even at his best can't replace Kante.

Kante has also missed their pre-season tour to US because he didn't get vaccinated. So may take even longer to get back to match fitness once the season starts.

I think for Chelsea to remain as strong as they were last season they need something like the below.

De Ligt
Lewandowski
milinkovic savic

Kante’s decline and Rudiger leaving is a brutal loss for them as well as the full backs wanting out as well. They need a big big summer.

I think we are already seeing the start of the future for Chelsea - targeting players like Sterling and Ake, which will enable City to reinvest.

That never would have happened before......they are essentially abandoning any chance of catching City and winning the PL

I'd be worried if they got Lewandowski. He'd be such a monumental upgrade on Lukaku/Werner that you could see their points tally getting a huge hike from that. But last I checked he was holding out for a Barca move anyway? Going from Bayern to Chelsea would be a bit underwhelming.

If we sold Kane, we'd lose Conte too. There was also that rumour that Conte, after turning us down last summer, was impressed that Levy refused to sell to Shitty.

Hopefully both Kane & Conte will sign new contracts once our transfer business is done.

The downside of Bayern's interest is that it will drive up Kane's salary demands.

Also, I note the chavs are offering Sterling around £350k per wk, & the Super Soaraway sez Sadio Mane is on £17m pa at Bayern, which my calculator translates to £326k per wk.

Kane will surely regard this as his salary floor for any new contract.

Mane's Bayern Munich wages revealed with ex-Liverpool ace to earn £17.2m-a-year
No issue with this. Mo Salah got 350k p/w and so should Kane.

It's huge. Sterling/Havertz/Raphinha would've been a really good 3, but without that final piece they're still stuck with Ziyech (who hasn't adapted at all to England) and players like Odoi. I assume they'll try and find another RW but there's not that many options out there.
Ziyech is probably being sold to AC Milan, so atm they're front 3 is out of 6 choice: Sterling, Werner, Havertz, Pulisic, Mount, Odoi.

There is a lot of quality in that 6, but they don't have a great goalscorer like Son/Kane, or a great dribbler like Raphinha.
They'll be quite reliant on Reece James for extra goals, I hope teams find a way to neutralise him.

They'll do more business, can't see Ake being the only CB signing. But we've done really well to get ours done early for pre-season.
I think they will sign another CB, probably Kounde if de Ligt chooses Bayern. Bear in mind Silva will also be a year older as well as trying to replace Rudiger. So at best their CB situation is stagnant.

I wouldn’t say far stronger. Kante was excellent for the first half of the season and Rudiger was absolutely incredible. De Ligt and Slavic at their very very best replace declining Kante and leaving Rudiger, Lewandowski obviously upgrades Lukaku, that would be their point of difference but I don’t think we should be shitting ourselves playing them. There will be scant if any difference in quality next season player wise other than Chelsea might still have a bit more depth than us should we not get at least another top CB and top CM along with a RB.

Go back a season and Chelsea were well ahead of us. Even Liverpool have issues with Mane going, it’s City that I don’t see us getting near.

Lewa would be a total game changer for them, the only issue I could see there is where Havertz would play because they've been deploying him as essentially a false 9. But he's a top 3 striker in the world alongside Kane/Benzema.

They'd have hugely upgraded LW in Sterling, gone up about 10 levels in terms of upgrading CF & then probably maintained their level at CB/CM. We won't need to be scared of anyone under Conte but that would be a very strong Chelsea team.

Lewa specifically wants to leave Bayern to go to Barca I think.
If Chelsea do get another striker it would be Ronaldo, but I'm not sure United would sell to them.

Yeah that was my understanding. Really don't see Lewandowski wanting anything to do with that mob, he wants the Barca move.

Ronaldo would be a bit meh. I'm not as anti him as many on this forum but he's another like Lukaku who isn't particularly good in the build up, and for a Tuchel side that's an issue.

Either the greasy one goes to the Chavs and inhibits their system or he stays at United and goes full-toxic...... Win/win.

what year is it GIF

This thread is bad enough without a full on discussion on Chelsea’s squad. I think some suspensions need handed out.
I started it.

Look, normally at this stage we'd be panicking about our transfers not being good enough.
Instead we've had a great window so far, and in my opinion have overtaken Chelsea and extended our gap to Woolwich as they've not had comparatively good summers. Nothing wrong with analysing that imo.
