We should defo bring in Maddison and I don’t give a fuck what anyone else thinks

top gun deal with it GIF

Not worth the hassle.... By the time you do all the legal stuff, 2 lots of paperwork, pay agents and get bartered down a bit (unlikely Everton would just casually pay S'oton their opening price); the profit is minimal.... Plus you can't buy and sell a player in the same window, so we'd have to loan him out for the first year.
How does tax work on a transfer?

I’m not saying we buy him either all
Im saying he is the sort of player we need. If plan A doesn’t work or we need to change formation depending on the opposition then a Maddison type player would be useful. Hence I was all for ericksen to come back for a couple years whilst we find a younger version or develop one.
Rather take a chance on Gill finding space between the lines personally and beating a man

I like Maddison but don’t see him dovetailing with out front 3/4

The big reason to buy Maddison is that he provides you with the flexibility to play 3-5-2, which has traditionally been Conte's more preferred formation than 3-4-3. All our current midfielders are of the more hardworking, ball winning variety that suit the 3-4-3.

I imagine Conte would like the ability to utilize both both formations, especially competing across numerous competitions.

In terms of selling GLC & Reguilon, I note both now have "super agent" Kia Joorabchian hawking them around.

Joorabchian will be trying to get them a move to a "big club", and he does seem to have contacts & influence. The downside is self-styled super agents tend to demand bigger slices of the financial pie than mere mortals.....

If Conte is serious about playing Moura at RWB, then a 5th attacker is even higher priority than a MF.

That said, Maddison has looked like one of the top 2 or 3 MFs in the PL for stretches, he’s just never been able to sustain it consistently. I’d be very interested to see if Conte could get him to play at his best all the time. Especially with our need for HG players, I’m more than willing to find out.

A big Tottenham Hotspur claim has emerged on their plans to add to their defence in the summer transfer window…

What’s the talk?
Transfer insider Dean Jones has claimed that Fabio Paratici may wait until January to bolster that area of the pitch as he weighs up what to do between now and the end of August.

When asked about the club’s pursuit of a centre-back, he told GIVEMESPORT: “I think that situation is on pause right now unless a great situation lands on their doorstep.

“I think it’s one they might look at in January after the World Cup. If they feel the first half of the season hasn’t gone their way or it’s left them short, that’s when I think they might look to get another one.

Antonio Conte will be worried
This claim from Jones will surely leave the Italian head coach worried as the centre-back position is in need of strengthening ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

In the Premier League last season, Japhet Tanganga and Joe Rodon ranked 21st and 23rd in the Spurs squad for average SofaScore ratings. They both averaged scores of 6.65 or lower and Conte rarely looked to them as they made 14 appearances between them in the top flight.

This suggests that the manager does not trust them with regular minutes on the pitch and their dismal ratings indicate that he is well within his right to make that decision.

Ben Davies, who is a left-back by trade, was the main option on the left side of the back three in the Premier League for Conte. He averaged a solid SofaScore rating of 6.88 and won 54% of his duels in the division as he made himself a reliable option.

Whilst he was not a major liability to the team, there is plenty of room for improvement in the left centre-back position. You only have to look at Christian Romero and the impact he made to see how much Spurs could benefit from signing another central defender.

The Argentine international averaged a sublime rating of 7.15 in the top-flight and won 62% of his individual duels as he delivered quality displays on a regular basis for the club.

This is why Conte will be worried by the lack of urgency in the pursuit of a new centre-back as it is a position that is in need of reinforcement ahead of a gruelling Premier League and Champions League campaign.

Who the fuck is Dean Jones?

Those quotes have come from him; not Fab.

I’m interested in Maddison. Not too concerned with old tweets or him having a beer or two if he performs.

Can he play wide in a front 3 like eriksen can?

I've never been super impressed with Dean Jones, but it has undoubtedly been quiet for us on the CB front since we got Lenglet. Ndicka, Badiashile, Hincapie, Guehi, Zabarnyi, and Torres all seem like they'd be good fits here and there's probably a few others, it's a strong position. But none of them have really got much traction.

Maybe we're waiting to get Tanganga and Rodon out? Maybe we really are waiting for next summer? Though I don't think our chances of Gvaridol or Bastoni really significantly increase next year.

It's an interesting spot to be, we're not desperate for a CB as we have seven first team ones now. But at the same time we could use an upgrade if one is available.

Ben left the Sevilla game wearing a protective boot. Hopefully precautionary.

He could be out for a few weeks though at least.

Season starts 3 weeks from yesterday

He won’t be worried Dean…. I’m sure it’s a collective decision

Yes he is a multi role attacker who can play as a false winger like Foden or Silva but from most games I have watched him plays as an AM. So in theory could play in a 343 wide but probably best in a 352, that’s just my view from watching him quiet a lot last season.

Anyway here are articles with a lot more depth than I would ever bring. In short he is very flexible.

At this point it feels like we're in need of quality more than quantity. We have enough depth in most positions but a few significant positions are filled by players who are just OK or have future potential.

Davies, Dier, Spence, PEH/Benta have done well and may have high potential but they're clearly a tier below the likes of Romero, Perisic, Bissouma.

Oh shut up ffs

We’re not going to be replacing any of the 5 you’ve mentioned have ‘done well but…’.

One of them hasn’t even officially joined us yet, Dier is excellent, Davies is excellent for Conte, Bentancur is superb at what he does, and peh is a warrior (arguably the most replaceable).

What a pointless post you made. 😳🙄
