Appreciate it was a relatively complex buy with a ‘loan followed by purchase’ arrangement etc. but can anyone clarify how much Gio set us back? Remember it being much more than €12m…

Hope Spence looks good in training otherwise why have we spent so long trying to buy him ?
Logic would suggest that yes, won’t be an automatic superstar…. But then I imagine we all thought that about Dele and Lennon, even Bale, who were all younger, less experienced with less global under their belts.I refuse to believe anyone could be stupid enough to think that Conte was banging on Levy's door demanding we sign Djed Spence
It's pretty obvious that this is a "Club " Signing
That's not me saying that this is a bad signing but I do think RWB is still going to be a problem for us this season while Spence adapts
This isn't a guy that's going to come into the team and smash it out of the park from the off
Actually I was being sarcastic in my reply to the origmal postWell, let's put it this way- think about how much we spent on Sessegnon, who was a much derided signing at first, and who we now almost unanimously like and agree was at least an ok signing after all. Think about how much potential you thought Sess had then and what he became now. Now think about how much potential Djed Spence has right now, and then think about how much we spent on him compared to Sessegnon. Seems like a pretty darn good deal to me.
Agree, but pleased at what the club was able to do in the circumstances.I refuse to believe anyone could be stupid enough to think that Conte was banging on Levy's door demanding we sign Djed Spence

Lol my bad... Hard to catch up on several pages of xfer thread properly...Actually I was being sarcastic in my reply to the origmal postSpence looks a great purchase for the price. As for sess really wanted him as well but he seems to have gone in his shell after 3 seasons. Although he is getting better and let’s hope fulfils the potential he showed at Fulham.
Yeah always a chance that he comes in and nails down that RWB spot from the off but I'd be surprised to say the leastLogic would suggest that yes, won’t be an automatic superstar…. The loss of Rudiger will be felt massively by the cunts. Led dressing room as well as pitch. He loss will be really felt.OAP, useless lump and a tekky midget. Nothing to fear there.
None of those guys make up for losing Rudiger alone, never mind the rest of their backline that have jumped ship.
The market is very difficult , no doubt about thatAgree, but pleased at what the club was able to do in the circumstances.
Do we at least agree that the RWB and LCB markets were extremely difficult this year? I'm not sure we could have done any better given the wage/club situations of the players that would have definitely improved us.
That's going to be par for the course for any English clubs selling abroad to anyone other than Madrid, Bayern maybe and perhaps Barça with their insane economics and possibly Juve.Appreciate it was a relatively complex buy with a ‘loan followed by purchase’ arrangement etc. but can anyone clarify how much Gio set us back? He's shit. Another Eric Garcia/ Upamencano. All hype and no skill. Koulibaly was the real deal for them this transfer window, Kounde is shit.Chelsea close to getting Kounde apparently. Not ideal.
He's a good player but another short arse.
Yeah, when you think of Son, Kane, Romero, and to a lesser extent Kulu, Lloris you feel at peace when you compare them to their Liverpool, City counterpart. Even if they're not as good, they're pretty close. The market is very difficult , no doubt about that
We've improved the options in those positions but I'm sceptical as to whether we've significantly improved the quality.
I think we're set to compete well this season but anyone harbouring serious expectations of challenging City/Liverpool are going to be disappointed
Yea- don't worry- when Kane's time here comes to an end, there will be some other emerging talent for us to sign. That could be 6 years away though, which means we don't really need to worry too much just yet."Milan board, in Belgium tomorrow to reach full agreement for Charles de Ketelaere."
Bastards.
I’m sorry but I just can’t buy this.Agree, but pleased at what the club was able to do in the circumstances.
