Transfers Summer 2022 Transfer Thread.

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Most of y’all are going to hate me. But I don’t think this window is anything above 6/10 (especially with the others improving) unless we bring in a proper CB and AM. Bissuma is brilliant. Spence I have a lot of hope for, but no guarantees there. Richarlison, I can just about live with.
If we see Maddison come in (finally a replacement for Eriksen) and Pau Torres, I think it’s 9/10. Let’s hope they’re not finished.

Jeezus.... Those trf fees..... Barely over 15m quid on the top end.

Thoroughly depressing transfers; both of 'em (GLC & TN).
Villareal are taking the piss, but at the same you have to remember they're absolutely tiny tiny club, smaller than Leicester even.

I was hoping Sevilla, Betis or a bigger club would be in for him.

The legendary (transfer) saga of Kim Min Jae continues.

First Renne looked like they'd got him. Fab Romano was even lurking farpost. Then, according to French media, a PL club (I wonder who?) expressed interest, making Renne drop him.
Then Napoli swooped in once they sold Koulibaly.
But now Inter have entered after losing out on Bremer.

I like to think we're just messing with all of them.

Yeah, when you think of Son, Kane, Romero, and to a lesser extent Kulu, Lloris you feel at peace when you compare them to their Liverpool, City counterpart. Even if they're not as good, they're pretty close.

In this transfer window only Perisic and Bissouma are in the same category. Maybe Richarlison too, but Spence, Lenglet, Forster will have to massively outdo expectations to put us on an equal footing with those two clubs.

Dier, PEH, Bentancur are all very good players but not quite elite enough to consistent deliver the kind of quality City and Liverpool expect from their players week in week out.

I think you may be understating our squad - and before we go into detail it was never possible to move from where we were to immediately challenging for PL title, but we will be a lot closer to Liverpool this season than last.

Forwards - Son, Kane, Kulusevski was already a formidable forward line as good as Liverpool, add Richarlison as our 4th forward and he's as good as anyone else 4th forward. Moura is not top class but that's where I hope we add another.

CM's - we set up differently to other teams but imo Bissouma, Bentancur, Skipp Hojnjerg is a very solid set of cm's from which we need 2.

After that it gets more tricky - Romero, Dier, Davies was actually a very effective CB combination and better probably than anyone else other than ManCity, Liverpool and Chelsea (but Chelsea have lost their star defenders). Sanchez can be good and then poor, so very inconsistent, Tanganga versatile but inexperienced, Rodon hardly plays. And we really don't know what Lenglet will turn up and evolve into. So we either get another top defender in the next 5/6 weeks or next summer to improve.

Wing backs - Persic is the star, we hope Sessegnon and Spence can pick up Persic's star dust. Other RWB options in Doherty and Royal are not ideal. Overall we need Spence and Sessegnon to work asap to get close to Liverpool.

Goalkeepers - Lloris is fine, and Forster a step up on 2nd GK's we have had since Vorm.

So in summary I'm happy with half the team and hope with wing backs clicking we get to around 75% of the team, Big upgrade from last season iimo.

I refuse to believe anyone could be stupid enough to think that Conte was banging on Levy's door demanding we sign Djed Spence

It's pretty obvious that this is a "Club " Signing

That's not me saying that this is a bad signing but I do think RWB is still going to be a problem for us this season while Spence adapts

This isn't a guy that's going to come into the team and smash it out of the park from the off

But Conte could, and should have handled that wording better?

What message does that send out to Djed.

If I were Levy, I'd make Conte put put out a statement clarifying that Djed is an important part of the team. Whether Conte's statement is accurate or not all of his playing staff should be treated equal.

For people moaning about our window not being perfect, answer this-

Which elite RWB could we have signed? The alternatives were all like Spence- youngsters with potential like Singo & Molina.
Livramento and Frimpong better but both seriously injured.

Which LCB should we have got? Bastoni wanted to stay. Gvardiol at 80m is a joke.

We will see prime Dier this year. I’m sure of it. He’s a leader and now he has great support, he’ll grow in confidence. Even city’s squad has off days, this consistency is about training and management, we have the best now, so I expect we’ll compete with the best at a high level.

Chemistry, confidence, commitment, aggression, effort, skill. We have them. We can make winning a habit with this team and manager.

I agree it's a big upgrade on what we were last season, but in a number of key positions will remain the same and get decent but not transformative improvements, the way that Romero, Kulu were and we expect Perisic and Bissouma to be. Therefore, we're not really a real threat to the top 2.

For that, Spence and the others will need to significantly outperform expectations. Which isn't really that different from what you said.

I don't think anyone is "moaning", we've never had a window this good... but facts remain that without a player the calibre of Romero on the other side of Dier, and one the quality of Perisic on the other flank, and a CM partner for Bissouma on his level, there are big gaps to City and Liverpool.

It's the reality of the market, hopefull next summer we can fix these issues and go for it for real.
