Same as. Can’t quite put my finger on why but I really think we shouldn’t go for him…
He’s basically a poor man’s Jack Grealish who would probably still end up costing nearly 2/3 of what Grealish cost city.
I know the homegrown factor is a draw, but considering the money he would cost I think we could do so much better…
Also his previous blatant hatred towards Spurs shouldn’t just be swept under the carpet either.

Not following the PL too closely I was not familiar with Maddison before a week ago, but even I can see that he's not similar to Jack Grealish and that he's more of a playmaker.
But yeah of course it's always a risk going for this type of players.

Yeah he’s a good player but there’s something twattish about him.

What makes them so different?
Both midfielders? Check.
Both number 10/wide attackers? Check.
Both decent dribblers? Check.
Both somewhat twattish? Check.
Both have skill sets we don’t currently have? Check
Grealish is a wide player, Maddison is a midfielder. They play very different roles. One is reliant almost entirely on ball carrying/ability to cross the ball & the other is a playmaker with great shooting technique in and outside the box.
In terms of on the pitch, there's not many similarities.

I don’t think there’s much more to it than him looking like a twat, and having made some comments off the pitch along the lines of “do you know who I am”. Which to be fair is twat behaviour.
I’m sure some will still be hung up about a tweet he made when he was 15. Those people need to move and remember the shit they said as 15 year olds.

Maddison is not a player that I would describe as a decent dribbler. In fact, he is not remotely press resistant and quite skittish in possession...space being his best friend. Grealish I would describe as a decent dribbler but only just...the flop being his best friend.
Guimaraes, Joelinton, and Maddison would be a top 6 midfield. The rest of the squad is lacking, but this would be a foundational buy for Newcastle as they make their move toward the City model. I would love to have Maddison and slow that Newcastle rise as long as possible.
I don’t give two shits about his teenage Twitter posts. The Sky post-match interview that was posted on here last week tells me that he’s either a good teammate and hard worker or a good actor for the cameras. He’s worth the money, in my opinion.
