Just an observation - there is a noticeable difference between players that have joined from 'bigger' clubs vs players that have joined from lesser clubs.

Bentancur, Kulu, Perisic and Lenglet - all have played for the biggest clubs around the world. Bent and Kulu have already hit the ground running and Perisic and Lenglet are already playing with confidence and look like they're going to be off to the races sooner rather than later. All four players already look like they're ready to start.

Our signings that have joined from lesser clubs (this season and past seasons) seem like they need more time to get acclimated and build confidence.

Not sure if this is coincidence or if there's a real correlation between a player's former club and confidence level when joining a new team.
Best clubs in the world have the best scouting and end up with the best players. Probably that simple.

Shop from the best clubs seems to lead to less risk.

Buy players from Lyon and the inherent risk is there :tanguythumb:

It’s been a good window but not as good as people make out. Perisic, Bissouma and Richarlison are all very good players who will improve us. Forster is a back up GK, Lenglet is not the Bastoni-level CB we wanted, he’s here to add depth to LCB and Spence is a prospect. He is not the finished article and he will not start games week in, week out.

Our greatest issue last year was lack of creativity. Conte’s system relies on wingbacks getting down the flanks and creating chances but we’ve only really improved on the left hand side and even that is a gamble given his injury. We are still not strong enough in the right to create a proper Conte system, so having a creative midfielder would help us break teams down.

If we get the right guy in then it’ll be an awesome window. But aside from adding depth, we really haven’t addressed the main issue that we had last season.
A couple of paragraphs to say fuck all. This has actually been a very good window where where recruited everywhere we need. Where you going to plug in this so called “creative” midfielder since you know so much about Contes system based on our players. You dropping Kulu for someone like Maddison? Fuck that.

So players who were not in that squad are:

Ndombele, GLC, Winks, Rodon, Reguillon, Tanganga

Substitutes (not used): Austin, Spence, Davies, White, Sarr, Gil.

I am really surprised we didn’t go hard on getting a proper right wingback in. Just seems like we are trying to fudge it again. That position let us down time and again all season yet there’s been no real umpf to get it properly sorted with an experienced pro in that position.
If the talent and the application is there then an "experienced pro" isn't always necessary. Doherty is an experienced pro.

TAA wasn't when he made the RWB role at Liverpool his own.

About all we can do is wait and see with Spence, but my gut feeling is that he'll end up first choice.

I think we need better at rwb than Doherty and Emerson. Thought we'd really spend big there on on a top top class player after getting persic for the left on a free who is of the quality we need to compete with the best .
Not entirely sure on the consistent quality of the cb either , that's another area were we needed at least 1 very high class player

on the positive central Midfield and upfront is a strong as can possibly be I feel without spending neymar style money

Rodgers said that Fofana is absolutely not for sale either which means that Chelsea are going to run into the same trouble as we did in upgrading CBs. It’s all very well having a transfer war chest but there are positions where quality is completely scarce. It’s going to take some stupid offers to sign a top grade (or EPL proven) CBs. Under the circumstances, I’m not disappointed in Lenglet’s cameos thus far. I’m not sure who will available if we let both Tanganga and Rodon go that provides a definite step up in class. I’m wondering if we keep JT. At this point, I wonder if Kim would have been a decent alternative or even Tarkowski or Mee as 6th CB.

It feels like the dumbest people on this forum sent out emails to all post the same dumb inane stuff.

It's no secret that we have been admirers of Adama Traore for some time; and it appeared Conte was happy with the player to come in back in Jan.

This could be the bargain we snap up on deadline day; and could be a perfect alternative to Kulu on the right.

Conte won the title with Moses as a RWB, and after a poor start to the season with a back 4 and a battering at Goons.

A fit Doherty is a lot better than Moses.
