Even Sterling is a flawed player. He will score some goals but he is also very wasteful. He is a really good player but City sold him for a reason. Jesus, in my opinion, was the smarter buy. I honestly don’t know why Chelsea let Woolwich buy him instead when they clearly need a striker.
Not much between Sterling and Jesus IMO. Jesus a bit younger, Sterling (as a HG player) offers more squad flexibility for multiple competitions.

Oh, but it does. It tells you that they were not really threatening, even though they hogged the ball. And that we created more, and quality chances, at that. I mean, at the end of the day, that's what it's all about, isn't it? The team with the better chances wins the game.
You can't average total xG in that way and make meaningful conclusions.

Using your numbers they could have had had one shot at 0.7 and the others 0.005 would that be better than an "average xG" of 0.15...answer is you can't say as xG doesn't work that way.

What's snotty about it.....?

Is that not a fairly easily accessed course of action?

I don't do twitter, but we saw something similar in action when Guttuso was linked as manager last summer. #Gattuso_NO or whatever it was.

Why can't you be the one to provide a similar spark?

(Btw, I respect anyone that's prepared to act rather than idly moan.)
Well, yes actually it did work quite well with Gattuso…

If your previous post was actually genuine and not sarcasm, then I wholeheartedly apologise.

Also, certainly takes more than one to provide a spark.

I've seen xG used wrong many times on here. He is not wrong in the way he was using it. Even if it was your example of 0.7 and the others are all 0.0005, the average is still useful information.

It gives a lot of context to quality of scoring chance instead of just looking at shot totals.

The xG of the shot gives the quality of the scoring chance, this is summed for total xG. Dividing by number of shots then loses context.

It tells you the average quality per chance. Sure there could be large variation as you pointed out, but it is still useful. More useful than just looking at wolves 20 total shots and assuming they had a lot of good chances.
It wouldn't show the highlighted

Wolves had 20 shots with a total xG of 0.71. So an average xG of 0.035 per shot. We had 11 shots with a total xG of 1.67. So an average of 0.15 xG. Our chances were 4 times as likely as to go in,

It seems to be the tactic. Even we forest a promoted team v supposed top 3 / 4 team with a super manager we couldn’t really control the gane. I think 2x Alf was better but that is now virtually every gane this season we have failed to really control. Do the same v spam who we all know will be up for it at home and we could be I btrobke. I just wish we could actually keep the ball and move forward.
I observe that a lot of these teams play their best side against us, fully rested, and press us HARD to start the game- we sometimes don't even get space to play until the 60th or 70th minute. The next week they then blow it against a weaker team (see Chelsea) because they shot their wad playing their hardest against us.

It doesn't really feel fair but I guess its a sign of respect. We've just got to deal with it.
