Why are you bringing Kane into equasion?
If he would not be playing for us, I can guarantee, we would not go after player of this profile either.

PL proven indeed - proven also that he can't make it in big team where there is pressure.

I am not against bringing in players in their prime. Nor taking on more experienced options. I don't think Zaha would be worst option either. But paying 40 mil for him at this situation would be financially absolutely idiotic.
Because it’s a good benchmark of his age.

He was a kid then. Would take little from that stint under Bug eyed Moyes

40M wouldn’t be a great deal from a financial perspective, but nor would it be financially idiotic. Overpaying? Yes. Signing a good player? Yes

Not every deal has to be financially smart or perfect, some of not most yes but we can afford to overpay for proven players now and again, without it being idiotic

Yes, we can overpay for few players.

But splunging 63 million euros for 5th pick in the forward line is too much for too unimportant role.

Another CB is all we missed for this window. I personally washed a playmaker in midfield but I don't think that's Conte's style and we need to buy what fits him.

A top CB would have been nice but overall I'm happy with the window as long as we keep building off it.

I know these guys are filthy rich, but employing someone to wash them?

Was he the Prince of Zamunda?

Conte on transfers: "I think that we did good things but I have to be honest with you because I see other squad of top team there is too much distance, still too much distance."

On Spence, he says: "Djed was an investment of the club. He's a perfect prospect for Tottenham. But for sure if we want to win we need other signings. I want to be very clear about this."

Conte plays down suggestion that Spurs have an advantage over rivals for doing their business early. "If you sign a player for £80-100m on the last day you have a big advantage because you're signing a top player." He points out that Spurs only spent on Richy & Bissouma.

not sure of the full context here, but he doesn't seem much impressed with our business.

Well, he said this before so ignore the cut and paste aggregators out to cause trouble. It is so obvious there are people within our “fanbase” who are gooners out to cause trouble. He sounds happy enough to me.

“We are working very well, I'm happy to have this group of players, this squad, the new players are totally inside the team & dressing room. We did the right things. But if someone thinks we completed the situation...we are very far from this.”

The summer window is great if Conte is going to be here for 3-4 years, it’s a big start. If Conte is here for just 1-2 years then clearly it’s nowhere near enough as he will be off then we will get a new manager and will have to start the rebuild all over again if the new manager has a different style eg Potter.

The question is is Conte going to become more like Pep and Klopp and build over time or is he more like Mourinho and a 2-3 year manager. It’s the only reason I was hesistant about getting Conte as manager and why I thought Potter fitted the club and how it was run more.

If Conte is just short term and wanted to have a crack at City at the title the below was the type of window we needed which would have required serious cash and overpaying. Hence I hope everyone understands it is a project and it’s just Conte protecting his image.

Hakimi
Bastoni
Bissouma
Perisic
De Virj/Skriniar
Richarlison
Veratti/Barella
Chiesa

We got 3 off your list (Bissouma, Perisic and Richarlison) and were declined by 3 (Bastoni, Skriniar and Hakimi) the first 2 Inter refused to sell although receiving bids from several clubs, whilst Hakimi was valued at £80m and said by PSG to be not for sale. Didn't see any comments on the other 2 so no idea

Player availability is everything in transfers - if club or player say he's not moving it becomes difficult. Both Paratici and Conte know Inter well so if they pressed all the buttons on a cb and were still told no ....... then no surprise to either the players couldn't be bought

yes I agree, having actually watched the whole thing now without words in isolation although he does distance the club from achieving anything of note this season due to the strength of the squad or lack of rather, he does seem content to build

Why would we blow it up and restart a project when Sonny is 30 and Kane 29?
Not being flippant, but how many reasons would you like? They've all been said before though. But an important one is to reinvest, to restart. Let's be honest here and say we are only in the CL because Woolwich absolutely choked and we slid in the backdoor. Right? That's honest. Had they not absolutely chocked liked dogs our prospect would not be pretty right now. And even so, with Sonny and Kane, our performances this season have been shit, right? With the exception of Soton, Sonny has been horrid and Kane's play in the main has been unspectacular.

So, if you were going to restart a project you wouldn't do it with a 29 and 30 year old because the pull to 'win now' is always there. Kane has Damocles' sword hanging over our heads right now, right? It was just my preference, you nor anyone else has to agree. But I'd prefer the club to determine the direction it goes and not the whims of an aging star player...Juve and ManU understand that very well.
We'd lose both players, and an elite head coach, and finish in mid-table mediocrity, with a toxic atmosphere in our shiny new stadium.
My god man where have you been the last few years? We've done exactly what you've just said. That's what we've done since Poch and were VERY lucky not to have done it again last season...and I've been saying the same thing for a few seasons now. It should have been blown up after Poch. And I don't care for Conte, about his potential loss, or his wretched football. Nor do I think he's an elite head coach. And again, his football is wretched and boring!!!!
We can compete in four competitions whilst trying to develop some talented squad depth players. That's enough of a project for me whilst Kane & Sonny are in their peak years.
Is that enough for Kane and Sonny? Kane will have 1 more year after this (unless he extends...) so it better be enough for him. If Conte is out here intimating it's not enough then perhaps Kane is thinking the same thing. I am! And there are others on the board that are thinking the same thing and have expressed it throughout the window. Of course they had to suffer the slings and arrows of idiocy for expressing their opinions (NOT aimed at you, of course).

There will be a degree of playing down expectation (pressures) in that too.

The man is an animal..... He'll being going for the proverbial kill regardless and the players should know that too.

Agree. That there's only 9 or 10 weeks until a World Cup break was obviously considered as well.

Reassess the squad when back from the break on Boxing Day, and make any necessary moves in January.
Again, good point. January will probably be a hell of a lot more active (summer window-ish) than usual. I'm not holding my breath. I didn't get my hopes up this window and they still disappointed...not so much the INs as much as the OUTs and how long it took to get them gone...loaned, that is!

Apparently, it's EXPLOSIVE STUFF from Conte...

Fucking 'explosive'.... gimme a break... they're just trying to prise clicks away from SSN!

I think the "explosive" twist there is that SSN haven't cherry-picked his words and spun them into a negative......

He sounds chill and ready to push on.

Conveniently; it leaves out the part where he re-re-reiterates that he understands that this is a multi-window project and didn't expect everything done in this window.

That is good but there will come a point Conte has to prove it. He is a great manager but historically similar to Jose (1-3 years) if he is genuinely going down the Pep/Klopp route then We can look forward to him signing a new long term deal.

The nature of this window is decent but does not really fit a Conte 1 year dash for the title particularly against this current City team but it’s perfectly reasonable for a 2-3 year start.

We will be a mess if we build a team for Conte only for him next year to fuck off. Another rebuild again for a new manager albeit from a decent start point.

I do worry that a strong showing at an international competition (World Cup, Euro, etc.) can artificially inflate a player's value... Italy winning the Euro skewed some Italian players' valuation over the next several windows IMO.

We will find out for sure next summer when a contract renewal is offered.

why? It’s not your money.
Sorry but that is a really stupid attitude. Anyone who cares about the club should also have some care about the finances of the club. I'm not saying we should want the club to be stingy and never invest etc, but the idea of spending whatever because "It's not your money" is very... well... stupid. I'm trying to find a more polite word but I can't, it's just stupid to think like that about a club you profess to support. :/
