I can see Perisic getting a similar amount.

£180kpw (seemingly inc. bonus)

For context; Inter offered him 5m euro p/a = roughly £82kpw after tax; which boosts that figure considerably to (at a guess) the equivalent of about £160kpw.

Bit older and we're a bit poorer but easy to ignore the cost when talking about our summer spend. Lenglet won't be cheap either.

Key diff. is Perisic was brought in to be the main man; not just a plan B that gets splinters 80% of the time; therefore a much easier spend to justify.

Not sure if he ever got discussed on here this summer, but a mate of mine just asked 'Whatever happened to that tricky dribbling winger who looked amazing at the last major tournament?' Turns out he meant Jeremy Doku, and I thought it was a good question so I looked him up - turns out he signed for Real Madrid last week, €35m. I haven't watched enough of him to judge, but seems cheap IF he lives up to all the hype from 2 years ago... Not sure why I'm posting that here - maybe as he could have been an option instead of James / Traore / ASM (if we were genuinely interested in any of them)... Though of course if there was any hint of interest from RM a few months ago, we presumably wouldn't have gotten a sniff anyway...

Waitwut?!?
Doku was brought to Stade Rennais (also known as the team that fucked us over in conference leauge last season) for 26 mil EUR in 2020 summer.

Since then he has done fuck all there, 4 goals and 6 assists with two full seasons.

I mean he is still 20 and could improve, but up to now it can be labelled as "another major tournament signing"...

Bastoni has been truly shit this season, think we should avoid him. If Lenglet shows his value just buy him.
He's no better a defender than Pau Torres who people seem to think would be destroyed in PL. L Martinez was the one to go for imo.. would be a great fit in a back three. Bastoni is a lovely ball player to be fair.. would still have been a good signing.. Inzaghi is a good coach but can't imagine he's anywhere as detailed in defensive organization and responsibility as Conte.

Yet more evidence the chief scouts of TFC haven't got a fucking clue what they're talking about.

Playing Fifa ultimate team doesn't qualify you as a good judge of talent.

I've never really seen him play but I was always a bit unsure (same with Gvardiol) about paying so much money for such a young defender. You just never know how they will go on.
On the contrary, Kim Min Jae has been one of the best CBs in Serie A thus far. Still a small sample I say since he just joined a big league, but he’s getting all types of praises from the Italian media and pundits, including Cannavaro and Costacurta. I’d be surprised if he isn’t in Paratici’s list by now.

If Martinez gets in the Argentina team and is paired with Romero, I fear for any centre forward playing against them. I thought Romero was a bit of a hooligan but Martinez is just a thug. That stamp on Jesus’ foot in the first minute was blatant and he got away with it.
Romero usually does it as part of a tackle, Martinez is a bit more blatant.
Unfortunately Jesus seemed alright after it.

He's come back from worse before.

Pau Torres has yet to concede a goal in La Liga this season, the comparison to Bastoni is borderline slanderous.

Not really, they're similar players. Passive defenders, doesn't make them bad. Torres better at playing the ball long.. more proven in a two. Bastoni much better at carrying, tight spaces and short passing. Pau Torres one month ago

No way you're using a pre-season match as evidence. Might as well use our match against Sevilla as evidence that Hojbjerg can't pass a ball.

I also don't think Bastoni is a passive defender.
