Not only Kane and Son but it allows one of the midfield three to attack knowing there are two still behind if it goes wrong. It’s just so much better. I really hope Conte moves us that way more permanently.

Gianni Vio: A Career in Set-Pieces (Part 1)
Gianni Vio is someone I’ve held a long interest in – after all he shares my mentality on set-pieces and if you’ve read my other set-piece articles, you’ll know his career is someone’s I’m hoping to emulate in the very near future, so I wanted a glimpse into his mind, to help further my knowledge […]www.esdfanalysis.com
We’ve looked a markedly better team with the 5 across the middle on the rare occasions he’s used it and he never sticks with itGreat tactical switch up today.
I would love to see us play 3-5-2 more often, last season two of our best performances of the season were with that formation. Get Bissouma rocking and it could work a treat. Some really good options available.
Lol I’m sure son doesn’tI know the manager was laughing about it but others have alluded to the fact that bringing Sonny on against a tired defence chasing the game is a fantastic weapon to have. Hope he uses that tactic again!
Was there any? It wouldn’t surprise me but I can’t say I noticed any on here but might be wrong..
Some crept in after Sporting spouting about how he’s gone next year & it’s no better than Mourinho blah blah…Was there any? It wouldn’t surprise me but I can’t say I noticed any on here but might be wrong..
Could have Kulu and Perisic as wing backs for that extra creativity? Kate dropping in a bit more too and with an extra CM to support can also offer that creativity?Few bits to pick out from comments in the thread:
- How do Potter and Frank play better football with worse teams?
- 198 and 135 matches in charge of their teams respectively v Conte’s 45.
- This football is like Mourinho/ Nuno!
- Rubbish, it’s not, we’re creating far more chances, conceding far fewer, and during the match when things click it is incisive and intelligent (see the move for the Romero miss). It’s not clicking enough for a variety of reasons (best 2 players off form included) but the tactic is clearly there, it’s implementing it that’s been the struggle. Jose played a 8-0-2 formation with one regular idea to score (give it to Kane to find Son) and Nuno had no clue. Only Manchester City have outscored us
- We looked so much better with 352.
- We did yesterday, but in very different circumstances to starting a match 0-0 against fully fresh opposition. I’d love to see a 3 man centre but I also think that without a genuine playmaking cm it’s more likely than not to leave us unable to break down a team who aren’t chasing the game. All our CMs are primarily defensive (Though all with decent ability admittedly). Unless someone like Kulusevski could be conditioned to play the third spare midfielder (which I did suggest earlier I think), I’d have very little confidence in a combo of any 3 of our career CMs to be able to create.
