Management Gian Piero Ventrone

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

He died the day before we were due to play back then and we carried on with the game. At the time I thought it should have been cancelled. I’m thinking the same for the Brighton game on Saturday. How can we be expected to play that?

I think the players will want to play, same as when Ehiogu passed away.

It won’t be easy but I bet they’d rather have the distraction of a game than have to sit at home.

How sad to lose someone who clearly was so loved, and such an inspiration. So random.
But must have been a life well lived to generate such respect and affection.

And with Ugo there was "at least" the distance of him working with the youth team and not the first team. But he was still greatly beloved by the first team players who met him every day.

With Gian Piero they not only met him every day, but worked closely with him. So it is bound to hit them even more.

I would not be surprised to see a very downtrodden team on Saturday.
I would want and expect Antonio to urge the team to play Brighton with GPV in their hearts and their minds and their boots, though I don't think they'll need to be told. We don't run from challenges - we accept them and we act with strength. The next 3 games are for you Gian Piero.

Brighton

Frankfurt

Everton

Win, Lose or Draw, put on a show for GPV.
