Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I see people melting and wanting Poch back AGAIN ffs. Our fanbase is utterly pathetic at times, weak.

Stop going on about fucking Poch, like a bunch of ex's who can't move on ffs.

Seeing people say "I just don't care if we win or lose, I want to be entertained again" really?

This is a competitive sport, not the fucking circus, the objective is to WIN! Which we have done this season, in abundance, you know, our best start to a season?

Or did that slip the minds of people suddenly?

Last night was a farce and pathetic from all involved, including Conte, however, it is ONE game, if this was our 4th loss in a row and we were getting performances like last night then people may have a point but it isn't, we have been winning games.

This man hasn't even had a proper go in the transfer market yet, it is clear we need at least another two windows or one big one in order to become a title winning side.

We need at least 4 top tier signings imo.

That being said, this team is good enough for top four right now and that's exactly where Conte has us and where we will remain under him.

CL football, the thing we have all begged for since Poch left, the thing Conte got us last season with an even worse squad than the one we currently have?

Maybe some patience is needed?

Only 1 club has spent more than us net since the stadium opened - how long until this narrative does one?

Last 10 years for all european clubs

10. Chelsea – £413m

9. Aston Villa – £424m

8. Everton – £430m

Everton have a higher net spend than their neighbors Liverpool and the fortunes of these two teams could not be more different. Unlike the Reds, who have won the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League under Jurgen Klopp, EFC is struggling to stay in the Premier League despite a net spend of £430m in the last decade.

7. AC Milan – £432m

6. Juventus – £560m

5. Woolwich – £583m

Woolwich are one of the most decorated English clubs and are a big spender in the transfer market. Over the past decade, the Gunners have had a net spend of £583m. This is the highest amount for a London-based club. Players like Nicolas Pepe (£72m), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£57.38m) and Ben White (£52.65m) are some of their most expensive arrivals in the past few years.

4. FC Barcelona – £650m

3. Paris Saint-Germain – £940m

2. Manchester City – £985m

Manchester City’s story is very similar to PSG’s. Thanks to the arrival of the new owners and major investment into the squad, MCFC is now an unstoppable force in the English domestic circuit following a net spend of £985m. The club has won multiple trophies such as the Premier League, the FA Cup, the League Cup and the Community Shield thanks to the arrival of players like Jack Grealish (£105.75m), Kevin De Bruyne (£68.40m) and more.

1. Manchester United – £1.1b

For those saying Conte has only been in the job 10 months, well ETH has only been in the job 10 games and the two teams were worlds apart last night.

I'm really actually conflicted on this

One on hand Utd won't play like that all season, they're gonna have matches where they are not as consistent, Conte has been here for just under a year so I think it's okay to expect some inconsistency in our play especially as he's still building the team

On the other hand 28 shots on our goal (22 in 54 mins) is fucking scary and that should't be happening this far into his tenure

.We are still FAR from being title challengers and we’d be lucky to finish top 4 this season, seeing that Chelsea and Man Utd are like 3 or 4 points behind us already and Liverpool start picking wins.

Tbf, after 11 games we are still ahead of all 3 teams you mention with >2 points per game.... Did anyone expect us to be 10 points clear of all three and have top 4 wrapped up already?

The problem with low possession is it becomes demoralising. You could see heads drop after 20 minutes. Contes system demands heads don’t drop, due to the fact that at any moment we could beak and score so the whole team has to be positive and alert . The most demoralising factor is giving the ball away stupidly just after we have been under the kosh for a period. And often it’s the usual suspects. They should do extra training.

We had enough of the ball, we just didn't have any players out there seemingly arsed to do anything, especially anything creative, with the fucking thing.

Some tool said he was still glad we don't have a player like Bruno Fernandes for some mystifying reason, who was their best player by a mile last night and created more himself than our entire side all did in 90 minutes.

I also think the way Conte sets up helped united. I think if you press lots against united and put them under pressure they aren't good enough to cope. But with the more defensive setup it lets them play.

I said this in the match thread, this 5-3-2 opened up the wings for them where we were overloaded, which meant they had all that space to attack the wide areas which is why we struggled to get out, also their CB's pushed high up on Kane and son meaning there was no out-ball.

I can see why he prefers 3-4-3 with this lot, that said I don't think we should ditch the 5-3-2 because it's useful, we need to use it when we want to be dominant, meaning it becomes a 3-5-2 and the wing backs push up and it needs to be used against teams who sit back and are happy to soak up pressure.

Also we're kinda fucked without Kulusevski.

This exactly, you have to be very strong mentally to play with lower possession. You have to convince yourself that that is a deliberate plan and that you are in control even though everyone looking on always thinks that the team in control is the one with the ball. And when you get the ball, you have to give it away quickly and kill as a coordinated pack. It requires perfect execution and steadfast trust.

Add to this football is a lot more effort mentally without the ball. I'm sure we've all had it where you feel knackered defending and pressing but you get the ball and all of sudden you are prime Maradonna for about 5 seconds. It's not a fun style of football to play.

No fucking way, Nottingham Forest have conceded less shots on goal than us

Results will always catch up with performances. You can only defy gravity for so long. We'll still win a good amount of games because of the front 3 (although Son and to an extent Kane arent playing well) but we'll rarely have any control and dominante. Unless we solve this problem its difficult to see us winning anything because you cant give up 25+ shots against decent opponents and expect much. Hence 7 goals conceded to Chelsea, Woolwich and Utd.

It's obvious we setup to concede possession and soak up pressure therefore we're going to have more shots on our goal so how many of those shots were from distance or outside the area?
You cant challenge for titles playing like that, no matter how many windows you get. Sounds like you're not even saying that its a personnel issue, but by design.

Conceding more shots on goal than relegation candidates is never a good thing ffs.

If it wasn’t for Conte we’d be playing europa conference football this season with some unknown as manager, and Kane would be playing for Bayern

But yeah ‘past achievements’

Tell me a realistic manager we could have that is better than Conte, I’ll wait

Quite literally any manager who seemingly knows how to coach attacking passages of play.

A manager who could spot Emerson Royal is utterly useless after one minute of watching him play football.

A manager who doesn't act like he's doing us favour by managing us.

A manager who isn't wedded to a system and has absolutely no idea what do when it doesn't work.

A manager who makes proactive substitutions.

A manager who doesn't set us up to allow a combined 66 shots on goal away to Woolwich, Chelsea & United.

I'd take a guess that any 'unknown' manager, as you put it, would have us playing better football than this.

It is shite, regardless of league position (which will take care of itself over 38 games should we continue in this manner) and I cannot watch any more. Between Mourinho, Nuno & now Conte, I can't stomach watching us play this way any longer.

All the people 'enjoying' this style of football, let me know what I'm missing.
