It goes without saying that we need a win, which is made a damn sight easier if we score in the first half and take the lead.

Blimey a 1-2 scoreline at 45 minutes, where we scored first but went in behind might even be a sign of progress.. Only might by the way.

Right now it's a good thing the days are so short so I can hide my embarrassment.

Conte, if he stays beyond the World Cup has to do better with the resources at his disposal. 4th is fine but the manner of the last 6 weeks really isn't..

Nothing at all of any quality is being defined and enduring under Conte's leadership and that is quite an indictment.

12 months. He's literally been here a week over a year.

He's seen players added to the squad which clearly haven't helped, and has players that he doesn't rate.

His defensive tactics are indefensible - especially since we can't defend - but the root cause of all our issues is poor recruitment. We don't have the players to play the football he wants.

We can't just go and blow £300m+ on players to fit his remit but we can't play this turgid defensive shite either. Something has to give.
 
Any joy in watching us has been gradually drained dry . While those Woolwich cunts try and play early 70s Brazil style we are stuck with turd crap .
Not feeling anything at the moment, the nagging mother in law popping round is a more pleasurable experience.

Can't agree mate.

Accept the length of time and in the grand scheme of things, it's not long enough and in that time we are now 4th, having finished 4th last season.

Conte is not a new manager. It's for him to add value and it's fallen off the cliff of late which could be a range of reasons..

There are some fans (not necessarily saying you) who think it's all about new players who all cost 40 million plus. It's an impossible notion and what happens when those players are acquired and it goes to rat sh!t? Silence for a few months and then back to ENIC's fault. Simply too convenient.

We don't defend well, we seem to invite pressure and our attacking play has its moments but can't continue to have to recover deficits.

Nothing at present is working as well as we have a certain right to expect. That's not simply about player acquisitions.

I agree with you. It's not about money, it's about the right players. We have spent money. Huge sums. But we haven't bought the right players.

The tactics and set up is 100% on Conte. He's stubborn, it's how he plays. But he has awful wingbacks, only one truly quality centre back and our attempts to be defensive leaves us woefully light and reliant on magic from Son and Kane. It worked to a degree for Jose, and worked well enough for him last year. But a reserved Kane and tragically out of form Son has massively fucked our only trick.

Plus we can't defend. 7 or 8 defensive players when we can't defend. It's tragic.

But he ultimately can only work with what he has.
 
I don’t want to watch Conte ball and I wouldn’t be overly excited by winning a lesser trophy playing Conte ball . If this boring, turgid rubbish brought us the first league title since 1961 or the Champions League then it would be a price worth paying but the likelihood of these happening is vanishingly small.
Like many on here I grew up watching Peters, Gilzean,, Ardiles, Hoddle, Archibald, Waddle, Gascoinge, and more recently Bale, Dembele and Kane (who like many others is being stifled by our current ‘ tactics’ ) The VT at the stadium proudly crowed that it was about playing and winning with style and grace- over the course of the last three managers those principles have been eroded and now seem like a distant memory.
Yes I want Tottenham to win (so badly at times that it really hurts) but it has never been only about that. I want my Tottenham back and it is heartening that so many on here want the same.

Conte has to do better with the players he has got.

This is how it works. The wing backs or central defenders play well and it's great at how Conte has got them buying into his philosophy and look at how he has improved them.

When they play badly Conte hasn't got the players he wants and they are crippling him and us.

I see it as Conte failing to get the players to play consistently to a high standard or giving them too many chances.

I simply cannot accept that it's the paucity of the players alone. No chance.

And we make no inroads on the away grounds of our main rivals and that is a poor poor show and has to be in a big part down to Conte.
