Match Another pissing game we won’t turn up to, have to suffer Emerson again and hope Kane or Deki save us - AKA Leeds at home, 3pm, 12th November.

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Caught the highlights as I didnt get to watch this due to having some house stuff to do that seemed more productive than torture.

My thoughts:
Dier terrible on the 1st goal. Did not get the right angle at all. Not great on the 2nd either… it’s not his man but he is holding him onside. Maybe he can regroup after the WC but we can’t carry him making errors every week.

We really should have been called for a foul on our 1st goal. Lenglet hits Meslier way before the ball is there, otherwise Meslier gets a way better punch on it. It evened up as it looked like we were fouled on the 3rd goal.

I thought lloris was worse on the 3rd goal than the 2nd. The 2nd is closer to him, true, but it’s a great strike low and with power and it’s a difficult to read shot being a volley from an awkward ball in. The 3rd one his angle is off and he gives too much far post.

Kulusevski looked dominant. He’s so clever in getting past players. He created the 2nd and 4th goals.

Thank god I didn’t have to watch Royal touch the ball at all as these were just highlights.

Great Uncle Bulgaria jokes aside... What a humble, selfless, team bonding gesture this was...

He's injured, his World Cup place isn't guaranteed because of it.... yet here he was celebrating with the rest of his team-mates.....

Classy....

I'm only sorry I didn't come up with a "Sonny... can I have your Wombles jacket?" placard!
Wtf is he wearing?
He looks like he borrowed Anthony Gordon's outfit

There’s criticism and there’s criticism.

Anyone in the Conte out category is a smelly piece of fatberg.

No, you need to look at overall track record at Spurs and even before that. Last performance leads to reactionary nonsense.

The football was good last season, has been worse this season with Kulu injured.

I don't care what his track record was before, just as I didn't with Jose or Poch for the matter.

It's nice to know but it doesn't impact anything in terms of evaluation of the football for Spurs.

If you think bad football is "reactionary nonsense" that is your problem. And frankly, it's mildly baffling compared to the username, you have chosen for whatever reason ...

Bissouma and Bentancur maybe later but the rest I believe you flatter them by using decent, these are mediocre players, FACT.
Biss looked good when he came on almost mousse type way he went past players. But he can get no rhythm in his play as conte doesn’t pick him. He will be ok!
As for richarlison I didn’t want him and not seen anything so far to justify £60M. When contecsaid we need to be clever with our purchases I have to question it. We could have prbly got Maddison for the same price no chance now. Even Jesus some May snigger but his general play is decent. Everyone goes on about spending money but it needs to be spent properly.

It’s got nothing to do with being Anglophile (I’m not, if anything I’m a Francophile) there’s been more criticism from the French media etc of Deschamps than there has the English media, and it’s also got little to do with expecting national teams to play scintillating football, they rarely do, and by definition, the best managers are usually managing clubs.

The tragedy is how passive and reactive Deschamps football is, some of the choices he makes, and yet one of the best squads international football has seen only won one out of the three tournaments they should have won.

He might have been underrated 15 years ago, but he’s not any more.

Only winning one out of three tournaments, and not even getting to the quarters of the last one with this squad is like only winning one out of three leagues with ManC - whilst playing turgid, Pavard at RB, Sissoko I’m midfield - football.
Hmmm I don’t agree. To say a team should win an international tournament and that if they don’t it’s down to the coach… hmmm no team has more than a 20% chance of winning a tournament. Teams that win always have knife edge moments.

Spain’s great squads had luck too…
2008 - best Italy on penalties in QF
2010 - won with a goal in the 116th minute just after Robben missed a sitter
2012 - won on penalties in SF

France…
2016 - lost to a 109th minute goal in a game they dominated and had twice as many shots on goal
2020- lost on penalties having had over twice as many shots and hit the post and cross bar (xg 3.5 - 1.97)

These things are won on fine margins… if Spain had lost on penalties twice and Robben scored a goal he scores 9/10 then Spain win nothing. And they were still the best team.

Anyway… we won’t agree because:
1) im unbelievably biased
2) you’re not recognising that international football doesn’t afford the opportunity to construct great sides. Can you think of a flair side that’s won a major tournament? Tournaments are won with a solid base, good squad harmony, a few difference makers going forward, and a good dose of luck. Most teams maximise the counterattack.

I said looking at only the last performance (as you said) is reactionary nonsense. Which it is.

Conte has not been perfect- he's made mistakes by picking Emerson too much, and not rotating enough.
But he's done well overall- and can take us to another level if backed in the window.

I replied to your post, where you said he was world class because what he had done before. To which I replied it doesn't matter, when he can't get his last game right. Nor the one before that for the matter.

Which is applied, realtime facts.

If you consider bad football "reactionary nonsense", I repeat my suggestion you consider your username.

I feel a bit sorry for Biss, definately too good for this kind of gig.

We didn't play bad football today though. Was a very exciting game, end to end.

Its all on Conte. The complete mess we look like starting any game. The complete void of preparation, tactics and organization throughout the team. Players constantly getting in each other’s way and not knowing where they should be on the pitch. His contract shouldn't be renewed based off the fact he keeps picking Emerson Royal over Spence and Doherty.
100%.
Almost a shambolic performance today. If it wasn’t for set pieces we would be in serious trouble. No creativity hardly tested their goalie. However 4th goal was a dream. I swear these players in the hands of a progressive manager would be so much better. Also defenders always look better when the team is on the attack more.

The same mistakes as always today and the same positives tbh. Individual errors for both goals allowed. But the team never gave up and when told to attack, put in a fantastic effort to not only score one but push forward for two in the end.

Still frustrated with Conte and his tactics/selections. The players have obvious flaws but it feels like he is holding our best players back.

Kulu, Kane, Perisic are our best players in attack but told to defend 45 minutes every game is killing us. Let them loose! We are very good at defending a lead. Maybe we should take one early?

I want to know where the performances (fighting back for a win) comes from.

Is it the coach and team talk? Or the players genuinely not taking the fact they’re getting embarrassed.

I think this is the key to the puzzle as it’s all so fucking bizzare.

Yet oddly appropriate for Spurs.
