There will always be a gap.

We will never be like Liverpool or UTD.
I disagree. Whilst unlikely it is not impossible. We already have greater match day revenue than either of them The only way to become bigger than then commercially in terms of global support is to consistently win more than them over several decades. That requires an ambitious strategy and investment in the team, and will take 30+ years. Fast forward to the year 2053 and if we've won 20 of the previous 30 PL titles, and .... yeah, yeah ... ok ... fair enough, it will never happen.

Chelsea are the example of this. I liken them to a bodybuilder who used roids to get massive, then stopped taking them but carried on building. The roids just cut out years of hard work but got the bodybuilder where he would have got.
I doubt they were making much at all in the pre oil days. They were nowhere near Man United, Woolwich, Liverpool and probably even Newcastle and Leeds back then. They had donations from Harding but that was it really.
In the last 20 years, sustained on field success has grown them so much that their general income is huge, one of the biggest in Europe - plus the dirty money.

Many on here are old enough to remember them having ford Granada's parked on the pitch on match days.

Seriously though... are we gonna sign anyone?

High School GIF

There's some sort of chatter floating around that Ronaldo has agreed to sign for Newcastle in the summer if they manage to bag top 4.

Just what Eddie Howe needs; I'm sure.......:roseunsure:

How to have your cake and eat it...this slimy git really gets up my nose....
Cristiano Ronaldo has a clause in his Al Nassr contract allowing the Portugal forward, 37, to join Newcastle United on loan if they qualify for the Champions League this season. (Marca)

The fact that we haven’t already signed someone sums up the direction this club is going in.

We are so far behind the top teams in the league. We needed to bring in a CB, a RB and a creative player fucking yesterday.

The total lack of urgency is staggering. They’re happy for us bunch of cunts to turn up week in, week out and spend money to watch the absolute fucking shitfest Conte and our bottlejob players subject us to. They’ll talk about “ambition” and all this shit but the reality is they don’t give a shit.

Either shit or get off the pot. I’d rather Levy and Co just turn around and say that they’re content with us finishing 6th-10th for the foreseeable rather than fill us with a false sense of hope. Absolute banter club.

Then the pricing needs to reflect that
