Without a plan we have nothing. Levy has always been a short term tactican on the pitch, and a tactican never wins shit without buckets of cash (see Chelsea), Woolwich I am afraid to say have a strategy, we don’t.

Thing is, I think if we had a coach that performed the way Woolwich have under Artetas reign up until this season. Fans still probably wouldn't have been happy.

I remember a time in his first full season where he went on a run with 2 wins in 10 games. Ended up finishing 8th.

Even last season, lost his opening 3 games. And then threw away a 7 point lead to his rivals in the race for top four.

Yeah, but then you have the likes of Kane, Perisic etc probably disgruntled by the decision. Tbh, I'm sick of watching the football now, we have lots of crap players but Conte is definitely underperforming this season. I know he lost a close friend, two really, but at 15m per season our performances in big games especially has been unacceptable. If he had requested a creative or passing midfielder last summer he probably would have got one. I dunno, trying to mute my emotions to it at the moment, I'd just like to see a course being chosen and stuck with. And for the football to be watchable.
This is going to sound insensitive.

But remember when Serge Aurier had his brother murdered a few years back? And Aurier not only went on to play against I believe it was Newcastle two days later. He went on to have one of his best games that season.

That was with 48 hours to grieve and process.

Conte is supposed to be this big tough guy. Italian grinta personified. He's had months to grieve for Ventrone and little over a week for Vialli.

If his head is not in it due to grief he needs to be the big man and give the reigns to Stellini until his head is back in it.

The Kane fallout is inevitable. He’s not going to re-sign. We make a decision on how much value we place on his goals next season or let him go now. UTD will be desperate for him; they sense a league title now. It is what it is; we have no power.

Agree 100% on the football. It’s a fucking slog. We’ve had four years of this shit now. Just put on a show again.

The Kane project has failed. That boat sailed years ago.

We didn't build the right team around him and Kane doesn't have enough big game player in him to decide games by himself like Bale or Messi can.

It sucks to say but it is time to look towards the future. We need to find attacking players that fit around Kulusevski and go from there.

Woolwich fans weren't happy with Arteta then either, many wanted him gone. But winning cures all. Credit to their board for making a plan and sticking to it.

We are just an exercise in public relations with a nice stadium. A long time ago, a proper Spurs coach who actually won trophies remarked that "there was a football club there once." I don't think anybody realised how true that would become.

To be fair, if Poch is willing to take us on until the rest of the season without committing to anything, I'd like to see what he could actually do with this group of players.

There's no way in hell we're this fucking shit.
I agree. We started today with a newly crowned WC winning centre half in Romero, the losing finalist keeper, a WC quarter finalist in Kane and Son, Sarr and Hojberg who all played in the tournament. Add to that Kulusevski and that should be 7 top quality players in the starting 11 today. We could also have started a WC semi finalist in Perisic instead of the feckless Sessegnon today. And yet we started the game on the back foot at home like cowards. Conte has much to answer for

If he were committed, he would have signed an extension during the World Cup break, however he wants to be backed. This board aren’t going to back him if they aren’t sure he’s committed.

Vicious circle
Something is wrong with the team feeling. Woolwich were always doing huddles etc. When Lloris made his error, none our players went to him and put an arm around him, they just walked off.

In all our football and movement there is no sense that we are playing as team, making runs, helping each other when the pressure comes.

Yep.

He’s also not going to Bayern. He’ll never leave the PL.

So we get 80 million from UTD this Summer or he goes for free in 12 months. Those are the options.

I agree with biting the bullet on Kane. He's 30 this year and realistically you are looking at 4 years of rebuild and getting everything right under the right manager before we could possibly be taken as a serious team again. Absolutely no point in keeping a player of his quality around just to finish in midtable/europa league at a push while winning nothing.

Arteta is massively over achieving, as much if not more than Conte is failing us.

It's not just the players and certainly isn't just ENIC.

Last t season Woolwich were bemoaning their lack of spending and they have hardly spent mega millions.

£170m isn’t much in modern football, West Ham spent more. Football inflation is crazy, to get Bastoni, Gardivol, Barella, Hakimi etc we are talking £300-400m so Chelsea money at least Chelsea money for one window.

£170m was a lot 5-10 years ago, it’s now just a top 6 teams yearly spend.
But Spurs were 4th in gross spend and 6th in net spend last summer. So add to that our so-called elite coach and we shouldn’t be struggling like this. I wager that we wont finish in 5th.

I was delighted when we signed Conte and thought he was the one to land us that long awaited trophy. The end of last season led us to believe that yes, this might be the season to get that monkey off our backs and he did well to drag us into top 4.
However, this season has been dreadful, TBH, in terms of performances and results, with just the odd game lifting our spirits.
My main issues with Conte are firstly, we only seem to be able one way and teams have figured us out. If he can't get the players he wants for his system, then we're screwed. Secondly, his substitutions are a puzzle to me. When we're losing, what's the point of making changes with a couple of minutes to go? I just don't get it.
Yes he must be feeling sad after the recent losses he's had to endure. But if he's not up to it, take a leave of absence and be with your loved ones.

Plus if he won’t commit to a new contract then what’s the point? I’ve a feeling the players are now downing tools.

Everyone should have a look at our fixtures over the next month. I don’t know where a win will come from. We could be well off the pace by the end of February and I think we will be.

Isn't Simeone becoming available at the end of the season?
