Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Starting to lose hope. Yes we need a few new players but this isn’t a bad squad. We’ve been shite for about 20 games now, it’s up to him to change the dynamic. That first half was bad as I’ve ever seen given the circumstances and opponent. I can hardly remember a derby where one side had it so easy.

The ballsy move with real conviction to a project would be to renew Conte and give him some really good players this January.

Every manager building something has rough periods. Fergie was nearly relegated with UTD.

ENIC don’t have the balls or the conviction
Let's be honest doesn't haggling over 45 million for his top target tell you where this is going. Poch is back next season and will be given his rebuild that will last about 12 months until we all realise how far behind the top teams we really are

If he can’t get the players up for a match like this, coupled with his sniffy attitude towards us and his lack of contractural commitment, it may be time for him to go. He’s improving nothing.
That’s what pisses me off most about him and what I warned of from Day 1. He just gives off this attitude, this place is beneath me, I’m not here long or even medium term and I’m only here until something better comes around.

He was a wrong fit on so many levels. My two big gripes with ENIC/Levy are 1. Manager recruitment since Pochettino 2. Our abysmal scouting network, which has resulted in us mostly signing duds over last 6-7 years.

We did go 15 consecutive seasons after 1989/90 without finishing in Top 7. Under ENIC, we’re a solid Top 6 and a good few seasons on Top 4. We’re not Everton. How far we punch about our place of 6th in the pecking order is premised on the right fit of manager and good recruitment/scouting.

Pochettino had run his course but that was the template of manager we needed, project manager invested in the club. Ten Hag, Howe or even Potter (who’s a good manager still despite bad fit at Chavs), instead Levy’s ego gets the better of him and we go for the vanity short-term appointments in Mourinho and Conte who are a complete wrong fit for us.

I don’t watch Woolwich much, but looking at them today, Odegaard what a player. Why didn’t we get him when we were offering Champions League Football most seasons and Woolwich were out of it for 6 seasons. Instead our scouts were off foisting Ndombele and Lo Celso on us.

Ferguson played exciting attacking football.

Conte is a negative, miserable, depressing man and his football is reflective of his personality.

What an utter mess!! Now in a situation where our manager has six months on his contract and let’s be honest he doesn’t deserve a new one currently… I mean wtf do we do! Meander on till end of season… sack and just appoint Mason again till the end of the Season? Or continue in hope he turns it around and finishes top 4/6 or wins the fa cup and then give him new contract?

If he is to stay though are we actually going to back him or just carry on signing players who he doesn’t want?

There are definitely players that can be upgraded on.

But Conte has to take blame for outright refusing to work with what he has. Managers are expected to build based on the strengths of the team at hand until any improvements can be made.

Our team is playing worse than it could. Conte proved that he can make this squad tick last season. But that playbook is gone.

Last season we played some of the best football I can remember.
This year felt like he was trying to pace it because of the World Cup and instead we just never found any momentum.

Then he over egged the down playing of our chances and there is just no belief around the team now.

Proper overrated manager, I wouldn't be distraught to see him do one, be it on his own accord or pushed out. But who next? And, mainly, even Pep couldn't get anything out of that shite squad.

Harry, Pierre, Roddy and Kulu the only ones worthy enough of wearing the shirt. Sonny has turned into a nightmare overnight and the rest are just awful players.

Need a total revamp, starting with our decision-makers

Hojbjerg is bang average. He was shown up by a lad who started his first game in the PL

Some truth here but I don't see enough in Conte as things stand to have confidence that he will deliver regardless.

Those people who post and just say give Conte the resources are going by his previous record and not much else.

I maintain other so called lesser managers would be be getting more from our squad.

If we don't buy players in January that is tantamount to saying to Conte get on with It or walk, and for me that would be preferable

The wing back system is dull as hell and it is disturbing how the highest paid manager in the world only has one system. We had Rose and Walker flying down the wings for a couple of years from full back but the system then wasn't built to emphasise them. They just looked good as one component of it.

I worked for a guy that kind of looked like conte, around the same height and infact his feet were so small he had to buy wellies with a frogs face on the end of them because he couldn't find adult ones. He was a lovely guy when things were going well but when something went wrong he was a little toxic twat and I left the job because it was that bad. I reckon conte is similar

You're not wrong in the rest of what you say but Conte isn't even the highest paid in the league much less the world. Deservedly so going off this season...

This is my point.

If it’s a “project” then there will always be times when it seems hopeless and you either have the balls and conviction or you don’t.
Don’t matter which manager we choose it will happen.

Saying that, it may well be that a Conte project needs more expensive investment to succeed but also comes with the proven track record of winning.

We could go with a less proven manager and maybe it would be cheaper and still achieve the odd top 4. We’d just need to be real about what the actual ambition of the club is.
