Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Because Carrick looks like a Btech Eddie Howe to me and the consensus was that Jose was a better option at that time.

Wouldn't we be accepting that we are now in a far worse position, than we were then, by pitching for someone like Carrick?
Or maybe its a lesson to not just go for the obvious serial trophy winner. It is and has always been about the fit. I agree with you though i'd have rather gone for Howe over Mourinho and Ten Hag over Conte.

I haven't watched them (will try to going forward), but they are absolutely on fire since his appointment and reports are that the tactical and technical quality of the football they're playing is unbelievable for a brand new manager working with Champo material.

For a well-liked English former player to be constructing a resume like that in a moment where that kind of figure might be water in the desert for us by the summer, it bears monitoring.

With Scott Parker (a better comparison than Mason) the harder you looked, the less you saw. Time to get out the microscope again.
I’ve heard the same, that he has the ability to become an elite manager. I think it’s worth taking a punt on.

The main thing is that Levy needs to let him and Paratici work. We spend enough money to make it happen, but they need to be allowed to do what they want within our budget.

I mean...hiring Eddie Howe in that moment would have been incredibly prescient from our current vantage point, right?

It's Graham Potter who suddenly has the bloom off his former rose.

Regardless, Carrick is a risk even if they win the Championship at a canter looking like Cruyff's Holland.

But I just sense we're at a moment where there's a taste for that kind of risk for a figure that feels like a fit at the club and one for the future as opposed to bringing in Tuchel or Ancelotti or god knows who else for one last attempt at necromancy on Poch's squad.

The thing with Howe is that he already had a number of years of getting his ass kicked in the EPL to colour things when compared to the unknown factor of MC.

Potter appeared a waaaaay safer bet having had Brighton competetive in the bulk of their matches even if he couldn't push them beyond mid-table.

I would say the jury is out on Potter. If Chelsea sack him, in the near future, I doubt the credibility he built at Brighton would get him another top job. His Brighton win percentage was not great and Brighton seem to be proving that their success may be at least as much to do with the people behind the scenes as it is to do with the head coach.

Carrick was part of repeated failure at Manchester United.

His Spurs credentials are negligible for me.

Let West Ham go after Carrick.

If he's any good we can get him off them again.

Well and the question is whether there would or could be a shared football vision between Carrick and Paratici.

But Paratici's history tells us he'll go running to Levy insisting Andrea Barzagli or Jorge Sampaoli or heaven knows what other nonsense is the man for the job.

Eddie Howe had a win ratio of 40.17%, during his second spell as Bournemouth boss, over 356 games.

Potter had a win ratio of 31.1% over 135 games at Brighton.

Eddie Howe was the obvious choice for Spurs after Poch was sacked.

They are at this moment, agreed.

But if his next three months go the way his first three did he will be getting a ton of attention.

This board went insane about Potter during the Nuno summer.

He improved from there, but his Brighton were Ian Holloway-ass nonsense at the moment our job was open.

I don't understand your reply.

It's probably me.

Where does Ian Holloway fit into all of this?

When I speak of ass kickings; I just meant in terms of the balance of in-game play. For every good result Howe used to get at B'muff they'd get absolutely battered by the bigger teams.

I wonder how their loss %s compare.......?

We are in a far worse position now that we were then. Then we were 6 months removed from a CL final. The belief was that we just needed a pragmatist that could give us that cutting edge to get over the hump after so many near misses with a nice guy like Poch.

Judging by everything we have reason to believe that has come out, Kane was a large part of the reason the manager had to be someone like Jose.

The squad has to be rebuilt, and there's dwindling reason to believe Kane is going to be part of that. We need a manager who can oversee the next generation.

You're embarrassing yourself with those observations.

What Son has consistently been the best at Spurs for is shooting accuracy.

No one else at Spurs hits the target, as often as Son, regarding the quality of shots at goal, to the quantity delivered.

It's the chances to take a shot that have dried up under Conte's bilge.

Son is frustrated.

He still has ability.

What he isn't getting is the volume or quality of opportunities he once did.
Versus Woolwich he was alone with their goalie, with "plenty" of space and time for his shot and their goalie came rushing out and was already "down" before Son takes the shot... Son could easily have rounded the goal in that situation. If he's such a good finisher he should have finished that one chance easily past their goalie

If he's not staying past the summer then he needs to go now. Like fucking right now. So that we still have time to get players in for the new man.

The new man being Poch probably. Just saw the rumour about fucking Tuchel
