I popped the game on after I saw that he was subbed on. He was industrious in their midfield trying to chase an equalizer. There was some obvious rust but he was working hard.
And he took some good long free kicks and corners.
Sampdoria got robbed of a injury time equalizer by VAR.
Not good for Sampdoria though is it?

If Winks can stay fit he's a significant step above anything they have in midfield in terms of receiving and passing the ball.
Yeah I saw the last half hour or so and thought he did well, albeit against an Empoli team that didn't look great. Obviously there's 0% chance Samdoria will pay the pretty high buy clause but if he stays fit and plays like that every game then he could have a decent next stage of his career in Italy

Italian outlet Genova Today gave Spurs star Winks 6/10, reported on Monday night: “It is clear that he is a high-level player, even if he has always been injured so far. Good starting point to put order and some quality in midfield”.
WhoScored report that Winks completed 16 of 19 passes, put three crosses into the box as Sampdoria chased an equaliser and even made four tackles – joint first for Sampdoria – despite only coming on for the last 28 minutes.
Can Winks help Sampdoria survive relegation? It is hardly a one-man job. But Sampdoria will be boosted with his return from injury. They are next in action this weekend, playing host to eighth-place Udinese on Sunday.
