Transfers January 2023 Transfer Thread. The Big One

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Even in that period we were spending not insignificant amounts
My dog, we went consecutive transfer windows without signing a player, the only time that has happened in the history of this league. Incidentally, we also sold one of your Unimproveable XI during that same period.

Everything had gone so far through the looking glass during that period (stadium stuff was a day-by-day shitshow, remember Chris Cowlin?) I barely remember it, but in retrospect Out: Dembele, IN: No one in January 2019 is probably the most egregious Levy crime of all.

And then we made the Champions League final with Sissoko and Winks as a double pivot. The whole club has been tripping on LSD since August 2018.

Not disputed that.......

Just the fact that no-one said it was impossible to improve as you falsely claimed.

.......You two are bloody murder with your shifting goalposts! (Even now you're falsely quoting me to get a foothold!)

The original comment was about first XI.

What I've said is entirely true. What was originally claimed to have been said was not.

That was one season though ... we had other seasons where the lineup was very improvable but we just didn't do it and it was a copout, the powers that be just weren't even trying. They were probably all cracking open the champagne when we had windows of no or minus net spending.

Spare me all the peripheral stuff... Re-read the OG post and my reply.

If you think I am lying then explain how.

Otherwise; cheers.... Until the next time.

What, we couldn't afford to attract or upgrade the level of player needed to improve the starting XI during the stadium rebuild?

Yes, that is demonstrably an untrue statement. It was wrong.

Hugo
Walker / Toby / Jan / Rose
Vic / Dembele
Eriksen / Dele / Son
Kane

Replacing any of those would have been v.expensive
at the time given the level that they were playing at during that period.

No-one claimed it was impossible to improve upon.

Even in that period we were spending not insignificant amounts.... eg, Dav 40m, Sissoko 30m, Aurier 25m... We were just doing it badly.
So price does matter when it comes to transfer targets?

The good thing is he has done both ACL's, so at least he runs in a straight line.

Given our repeated interest in the player this has the feel of one that's gonna happen.

Makes me nervous. Quality player, a little bit of a Kulu-like post hype sleeper, but gigantic injury risk and I'm not certain where he plays.

A damn-the-torpedoes 352 with Kulu at RWB and Zaniolo is the 10ish role Conte played Eriksen in makes some sense, but would Conte be that attacking with this backline in this league?
I'm unsure he'll play 3 5 2 but he could play either Kulusevski or Zaniolo as a AMF player. It's probably too risky to play Kulusevski as a RWB for a full game, but he could be shifted there temporarily during matches if need be.
