Or he isn’t our first choice. The whinge fest and fixation with Levy on here is hilarious. Talk about living rent free. Most seem more focused on Levy than players, manager, or manager of football.
Because he’s cancer and it doesn’t matter who the manager or players are whilst he’s involved.. With him, we are slumped in a bed dying from a painful illness

Why not? I don’t mind giving Rich a starting spot with Sonny off the bench. Son will also do better after some rest- he’s mentally burnt out.

LW, RW… even RWB are NOT priorities at all

He's not looked good there. He's clumsy. His best performances of late have come at CF for Brazil, at LW he's an underwhelming option.

Son is done. Finished. Scrap heap time.

RW isn't but RWB not a priority? Doherty & Emerson are clowns. We have a good handful of priorities but among them are replacing Son, Lloris, Emerson and Lenglet as the priorities.

We won't sign a better LW though. If Trossard was just another LW option and we were moving on to some Gucci tier options then great. But we need someone to sit Son on the bench regularly & I'm really not keen on Richarlison on the wing.

We'll just sign nobody instead. Probably Zaniolo who plays off the right anyway and isn't what we really need, only because he's cheap, Roma want rid and we can do loan with option to buy. This isn't the way to operate if you want to win trophies or be a stable, successful team.

The Zaniolo thing seems to have created more noise than the Trossard links did; who's to say he isn't the prefered target?

I honestly don't know but by all means predict away.

It's not like the bloke was deemed a high value player; you gotta open a negotiation somewere..... If it's too low the parent club will soon tell you and then you re-evalate.

Fact is the agent said about us delaying being an issue.... Perhaps if we'd have moved fast we'd have got a better deal than the scum did..... We'll never know.

True, but if you don't know how much it's worth and there's no advertised pricetag.... Then you register your interest and have a chat.....

Seems like that's as far as thins went; only we tried to keep his agent on ice..... Again; this is Fab's modus operandi IIRC.
I think we know fairly established premier League players don't cost £12m, though. It just reeks of timewasting.

I've said elsewhere I think Levy is perfectly right to haggle for Porro to begin with, and then when it's clear that we're wasting time either just pay the release clause or look elsewhere. I don't mind the haggling within reason but it just seems in this case we weren't even doing that. If we don't want him enough to get past the initial lowball I just don't see what the point was.

I think that’s harsh. Hes a lot better at LW than RW.

Not necessarily. Do you follow tennis? Look up Nadal’s 2015 season.

Agree but realistically we can’t buy 4 players this Jan. And Dier is bigger priority than Lenglet as Davies is okay at LCB.

Rich off the left will offer more than Son at this point.

So far he has only played in his 3rd best position (RW) so moving him to his second best will be an improvement.

Realistically, with no GK or CB links I think this is the best we can hope for to see out the season:

Forster
Romero -- Dier -- Davies
Porro -------------------- Perisic
Hojbjerg -- Bentancur
Kulu ----- Kane ----- Rich
Not sure if we are eyeing up a change of shape with Zainolo but I don't see him getting in that front 3.

Zaniolo? How long have we been after him, certainly since Poch was manager. So is this a coincidence or do we just go after someone and then just keep going back regardless of manager or scout.

It makes no sense. Zaniolo plays off the right where we have a solid option in Kulu & a not too bad deputy in Gil.

And ergh, if Zaniolo is a top target … this club.

Sure; if that's your opinion on the player and or the positional aspect of things; but we've veered off onto a different complaint at this point.

FWIW; I'd have prefer Trossard to Zaniolo; least of all because of it being less of a transition for the player, but having said that I expect he'll find the transition to Arteta easier than to Conte-ball and as others have said; it's a bit like S"oton 5-10 years ago.... There's a long list of players that disappointed after they left that comfort zone.

Yes it does - especially combined with the Porro negotiations. Other clubs around us are simply paying what is necessary if they want a player, we negotiate, delay, ponder and lose out. Really shameful for a club in our current predicament who are the 9th richest in the world to operate like this. Woolwich are top and cruising yet simply went and got Trossard, and were willing to straight up pay for Mudryk too.

We should've activated Porro's clause on day 1, had him in within a week.
« if they want a player »

You make so many big assumptions. He might have been 3rd on the list. Might not even have been on a list but being kept warm in case targets 1, 2 and 3 don’t work out. Paratici is supposed to negotiate for lots of players and pulls the trigger on the one that works best.

Trossard is a classic case of people using it to bash the club no matter what happens. Sign him and we’ve wasted 30m on an average player who is 28 and doesn’t get into our first team. Don’t sign him and it’s symptomatic of our dysfunction.

No, wasting time making insulting bids to clubs while signing nobody at all is symptomatic of our dysfunction. If we rate Trossard highly, go and do what Woolwich did. If we don't then do not bother at all.

All we do is look for deals & bargains, as we're doing with Zaniolo now. Constantly on the look-out for players on the cheap or option to buy. Trossard was the same, just opportunism because his contract was running low.
