Nothing worse than seeing links to Poch, I understand a lot of fans have fond memories of his time here (so do I) but it's important to remember he was a nodding yes man who lowered himself to be subservient to Levy/ENIC and in the end they dumped him into the bin like rotten fish without thinking twice.

Poch is a massive loser who had his chance and he blew it. What are we going to hire him for again? So he can be less troublesome to Levy and the board? Not for me, he flopped at PSG and his stock is in the sewer. Whatever the solution is it sure as hell isn't looking backwards.

Fuck Levy if he does this.
It's a bad idea, and would be a misstep by Levy, but I don't think this is a Levy-specific thing. If Qatar took over the team overnight they'd be tempted by the same thing.

Poch wanting to come back is what makes the situation so weird. In a normal version of this scenario the former coach would never dream of taking his old job back for any number of reasons.

But the bastard is as romantic as we are :pochcry:

A massive loser who took us from mid table to the champions league final and the cusp of titles, ok we didn’t make that final push but we are where we are today because of Poch. Mourinho and conte have tried and got nowhere near where Poch did

Whilst he lost his mojo with us towards the end, let’s not rewrite history

Breaking news: Sol Campbell is going to apply for the job. He says his CV makes him the perfect candidate. Managerial experience at the highest level. Ex Spurs player and captain. Always popular with the fans. They were so upset when he left they even tried to erect a makeshift statue
All joking aside, IF that ever came to pass, that will be the day I give up.

Poch is not a massive loser who had his chance and blew it. What chance did he have? It didn't fall into his lap, he is the one who built and guided that team to places we have never seen for a long time depending on how long you've supported the club and probably won't again for a long time. You are being extremely disrespectful to a guy who gave everything to this club whilst he was here.

Yes he shouldn't come back and work for Enic again. They didn't back him like they should have, you are right that he shouldn't have been a nodding yes man for Enic. Both parties need to move on.

Nobody's rewritten anything, it was good in the moment but we won absolutely zilch in his time here so we shouldn't act like he won us pots and we binned him off prematurely.

We need to look forward not backwards, I'm sick of this "let's hire poch" brigade, based off the need for a quick dopamine hit that nice feel good factor that'll last about 2 weeks before everyone realises that the people upstairs are all the same.

If Poch comes back this summer, I’ll personally be done with the club. Wish him all the best but it’ll end bad, I can feel it. Same feeling I had when I found out we hired Nuno.

Also just shows how limited the board is if they can’t identify another serious manager than Poch to try and revamp the squad.

This is a great post. Fond recollection of the good spell Poch had but in truth towards the end he lost his way. If he came back now he won’t find a young Harry Kane, a bubbling enthusiastic Dele Alli, a peak Erikson in the dressing room.

Lets be honest Spurs are not going to buy their way to success (unless somebody richer than Saudi Arabia acquires the club). It pains me to say it and I expect I’ll get some negative comments for doing so but whoever comes next needs to have whatever Arteta has brought to Woolwich. Give him realistic achievable expectations and commit to him for say 5 years to develop a first team from the academy and prudent transfer business.

A young enthusiastic manager looking to make his mark might be what we need. The selection process is key though because we’ve seen Gerrard and Lampard, who are also in that mould, fail miserably.

When he was at the absolute peak of his powers he should have forced the issue when it came to signings but he didn't he thought he could manage it out and that the board would eventually cough up the funds but they never did and by the time he started getting more vocal we were already at the end of the cycle for those players and he was essentially making demands from a position of weakness.

You’re slagging off Poch but in your last sentence say it’s Enic’s fault

Well which is it?

I’m not entirely happy about going backwards but I’d rather a man that lives the club and plays nice football than one of these ‘proven winners’ that also wins Fuck all and bores us senseless
