Transfers January 2023 Transfer Thread. The Big One

And Danny Drinkwater was pivotal in a Leicester team that won the league and look how the following season(s) worked out for him?

Key point I'm making is Bissouma's performances had declined by last season and he was nowhere near the level he was at when he was getting those rave reviews from years past.
All players have dips in form especially when they know they are leaving a club...It means nothing, and in a discussion about the quality of a footballer should not come into the equation. You pointed to that one hatrick against a poor big team and Bissoumas form stalling. Neither mean zip perhaps look at how keen Brighton were to keep him or the the fact Potter wants him at Chelsea now! He is a good player struggling to adapt his game to a frankly stifling system. Pochettino will love him....which is handy :levystare: :contehmm::pochsmirk:

Mitoma will go for 50-70 this summer:

You have to commend Brighton for their excellent scouting and recruitment. It’s a shame for them that they can’t keep gold if they’re players and really build a top team rather than get gutted each season.
I think poaching Brighton scouting team for 25-40 million would be steal of the window.

Will earn back within one year.

So now the agreement on the fee has been made, so we now need to reach an agreement to discuss the transfer details before agreeing to talk to Zaniolo about terms to agree we don’t need him and he’s better staying at Roma?

Why would we even contemplate signing this Italian sick note for a manager about to exit stage left?

It would stink of incompetence.... oh wait!!

I hope it's nonsense but knowing us who knows.

We are crying out for a goalie and old central defenders so what better plan than to potentially go in for someone who will occupy our medical team more than the opposition.

I wouldn't say, I am pissed with any specific deal. Malinovsky going to Marseille or Trossard to Scum do not bother me. Neither does haggling for Porro - pointless to pay such money to niche player that might not have position with us within next 5 months. Kessie does not exite me as he does not offer what we lack the most - passing and ball retention ability.

But what infuriates me is absolute lack of direction. I've been saying it since mid Nov - Conte train is off rails. If it is evident he does not want to stay past this season AND we need rebuild - have new coach in place and start building. By start of 01.01 targets should have been locked and preparations on their way.

But no, we just sit and wait.
Will Conte stay or go.
Will Paratici get banned or not.
Will Son rediscover his form or not.

Have a fucking plan and then start executing it. Even if it hurts at first. Don't just Google search "players with expiring contracts" and "players who played well against Spurs from lesser teams" 🤦‍♂️

Heard a scouting report on him earlier on TS:

- Injuries have taken their toll and he's a 'different' kind of player to the one that held such promise a few years back when we were originally linked.
- Wants out cos he thinks he's worth more wages than Roma do based on past potential; rather than current output.
- Says that a 'maybe deal' (loan with option/clauses) would be the smartest move for us if we are still interested despite the above.

Doesn't exactly fill me with confidence.

This.

it's not for Conte specifically, we tried to get him in when Nuno was still boss so i Suspect it's Pat who likes and wants him and Conte just agrees or maybe even not.

we do neeed a goalkeeper but i dont think Brentford are going to entertain it mid season

Interesting write up from this year about Zaniolo from a Roma fan.

Reads like a player that could use a change of scenery but has the talent to be anything he wants and would benefit from not being the center of attention for a bit.
Hmmm. The article makes me want to watch him play again.

I’ve got to be honest, the few times I have seen him recently, he just seems to lurch into players, overhit passes or wallop it out of play.

But maybe there is a player that can be rediscovered with Conte.
