Transfers January 2023 Transfer Thread. The Big One

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Woolwich are showing ambition & are looking to improve on what they have & we are not. To bring in a player on a 4 month loan who is behind Bergwijn in the pecking order for the Netherlands is absolutely baffling to me. We should be bringing in players who will improve our starting 11 which to be perfectly honest, really isn’t good enough in a number of positions & all we do is bring in more bench warmers. I really do wonder what is going on at Spurs.

Porro doesn't improve our first eleven?

How many deals involving release clauses get done early?

Clubs are always going to haggle to get out of paying an upfront fee when a fee close to that price or totalling that price over installments is preferred.
No it’s only us that would haggle all month for our number 1 target and then get to a stage where we have to agree to letting the player play an extra game with his club to get the deal over the line.

Sporting were clear they want the release clause, and we fanny about the first 2 weeks of window with shit part exchange offers, why weren’t all these daily meetings happening at the start of the window or even before the window opened when he’s clearly our priority.
Just wasted time and games where he could have been our player already .

You've seen how toxic this fanbase is. They would have regardless.

I don't believe anyone would complain if we were 8 points clear and spending 50m on players whilst looking to buy young talent like Mudryk or Caicedo. Nobody. Or at least the voices would be the tiny minority and would be getting 500 disagrees and people telling them to shut up.

This fanbase isn't unique at all. If any of the other top 6 teams dealt with the same things we do, they would be equally as 'toxic'.

The circle wank about Woolwich is stronger than usual today. Is it just because a guy on Twitter said they might buy someone?

I can guarantee that if we were in their position, and signed Trossard, it would be horrendous as we should be taking advantage of our position at the top to get the very best players on board.

Then the first sniff of Caciedo, it would be “pay the fucking money” and expect him at the training ground by lunchtime.

Woolwich do it and its ambition. Laughable.

He wouldn’t have the choice if we just paid the release clause earlier in the window

Of course now with it a day away and nothings completed he will want to play in the final
Of course he has the choice even if we pay the release clause.

This isn't basketball where players don't have a say in where they go. Porro has all the power to slow down or block the deal if he so choses. All he has to say is "I don't want to move."

Well, it's not only us that would haggle. So I'll repeat the question to you, wise one. How many deals that involve a release clause get done early?

Go find me a deal where a club had paid the release clause early in a window to get it done. Preferably one that doesn't involve a super club like PSG, Chelsea and City who have unlimited funds.

Under Paratici we have spent decent money and on mainly very good players.

Forster (as back up)
Porro Spence Emerson Romero Lenglet Perisic Udogie
Bissouma Bentancur Sarr
Kulusevski Richarlison Danjuma Gil
This season's failings are more down to the World Cup being mid-season, injuries to key players and Conte not managing three games a week very well. Woolwich doing so well does not help things either.

The 60m bid is being reported by every major outlet in the country .. so no, not some guy on twitter.

Can you guarantee that? They have a highly performing, young LW. They needed depth for him, went for the star in Mudryk, were out-gunned by a team firing off transfers for fun but settled on a PL proven depth player. Their fans seem happy with it, so ours would be too. We're not unique.

And if we were bidding 60m for Caicedo after spending 25m on a young CB nobody would be angry either. This constant need to act like our fans are unreasonable/spoilt is odd, compare what we get compared to what the other top 6 clubs. Compare how unruly/restless we are. It's not even on the same scale, we've got the most docile, 'reasonable' fans in the top 6 by far.

I think people on this forum would complain if we were top of the league and were spending money on Trossard and Kiwior, yes. All whilst missing out on a huge Spurs fan to our rivals.

100%

The same Porro who by every reliable journalist account has already agreed personal terms weeks ago and was just waiting for the clubs to agree a fee?

Do you really think if at the start of the month we slapped the release clause down he would say no sorry tottenham I refuse to move and risk jeopardising this deal because I want to potentially play in the league cup final which they hadn’t even made yet at the end of the month. C’mon some of you are acting really slow. The deal has taken so long to be completed that sporting are slowing the breaks as its now a day out from their final and saying fuck it he’s not yours til after.
